Thierry Lasry is injecting Fendi sunglasses with sex appeal for SS15.<\/p>\n

\u201cFetishy\u201d and \u201cPorny\u201d, with a potential \u201cOrgy\u201d in the pipeline. Since launching his eponymous line\u00a0in 2006, Thierry Lasry has been hypnotising sunglass-wearers the world over with\u00a0his graphic printed acetate frames,\u00a0ultra-feminine shade shapes and\u00a0Cubist colours. Born in 1977,\u00a0creativity came naturally to\u00a0Lasry, whose father was\u00a0an optician and mother a\u00a0designer \u2013 in fact, the pair\u00a0launched their own eyewear\u00a0brand in the late 90s.\u00a0\u201cThe way I approach\u00a0design is very graphic,\u00a0very mosaic,\u201d says\u00a0Lasry, who started in the\u00a0industry in 2000. \u201cI\u2019m obsessed\u00a0with Lego.\u201d Teaming up\u00a0with Fendi for SS15, Lasry\u00a0has created a capsule\u00a0collection that references\u00a0one of his other long-time\u00a0inspirations, Federico\u00a0Fellini\u2019s 60s classic La\u00a0Dolce Vita. Evoking\u00a0the sensuality, power\u00a0and sex appeal of the\u00a0starlets of the era \u2013\u00a0Anita Ekberg, Jane\u00a0Fonda, Brigitte Bardot, et al\u00a0\u2013 the \u201cSylvy\u201d and the \u201cFanny\u201d\u00a0were born from 80s and 90s graphics selected\u00a0from the Fendi archives by Lasry and Silvia Venturini Fendi, a nod to the house codes\u00a0of Graphism and Dualism. The result: two chunky, tridimensional, 8mm thick acetate frames (one cat- eye, one square) available in two psych colour ways. Here, Lasry tells us more.<\/p>\n

Tell us about the names for your frames.<\/strong><\/p>\n

My first name ends in a \u201cY\u201d and my last name ends in a \u201cY\u201d. It\u2019s weird, [the frames] are like my babies, so I give them a name ending in a \u201cY\u201d. Sometimes it\u2019s sexually-themed, names like \u201cSlutty\u201d or \u201cSexy\u201d, but sometimes it\u2019s about what sounds cool, for example I like high-pitched sounding names, other times there is a real story between the way the frame looks and what it is called.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It\u2019s a subtle idea. What about the prints for this collection?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Basically my idea was to create art within the frames. I wanted the extended project to be linked to art and obviously Fendi is intrinsically related to art. I started by going through the Fendi archives, which started from 1996. I went through something like 20,000 pictures. It was pretty crazy. What\u2019s amazing about the Fendi archives is that it\u2019s not only pictures from the collections throughout the years, but also pictures from the mood boards, sketches and anything that has inspired Karl Lagerfeld. It might be a little picture or a sketch, but it would be the starting point in his mind for the collection. It was extremely inspiring.IshowedSilviawhat I liked as my starting point, I explained what I wanted to do with it and she thought it was very Fendi. So I designed two different patterns, both extremely geometric, both in colour.<\/p>\n

So, Anna Cleveland, why was she the perfect campaign girl?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Well, Anna Cleveland is amazing. She is very different from other girls on this planet. For me, she is like a mix between a model and an artist. She\u2019s so different. First of all she\u2019s a wonderful person, so much fun and way smarter than everyone else. I really like her unique energy and if there\u2019s one thing everybody knows me for, it\u2019s my energy \u2013 so that was a good match. It\u2019s just the way she moves, the way she acts is so unexpected. She has a really big personality, but she\u2019s not fake.<\/p>\n

Which other female muses do you find inspiring?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s hard to say, I can\u2019t say there\u2019s one girl. It\u2019s not necessarily one person, it\u2019s more of an attitude. I remember a few years ago around 2010, I became obsessed with Blake Lively, and the idea of young society girls. It\u2019s always a woman with confidence, very sexy and very glamorous.<\/p>\n

If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?<\/strong><\/p>\n

My dream collaboration? I\u2019m working on one now, but I can\u2019t mention it. So other than that, it would be Comme Des Gar\u00e7ons. That would be really, really cool.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
