Post-punk four-piece girl band Chastity Belt release the video for their anti-slut shaming anthem ‘Cool Slut’."Screen

Having found one another in a tiny college town in Eastern Washington, four-piece post-punk girl band, Chastity Belt, is made up of Julia Shapiro, Lydia Lund (guitars), Annie Truscott (bass) and Gretchen Grimm (drums). Building a reputation upon DIY foundations, to rave review, it’s no surprise their debut album No Regerts (see what they did there?) sold out in a flash, taking them on a much praised tour of America.

Fast forward two years and the girls are back with a new album Time To Go Home, charted for release May 11. Goofy, cute and kitsch in equal measure, the somewhat crude lyrics that accompany their jagged rhythms, speak to our generation on more level than one.

Today they release a low-tech video to accompany their anti-slut shaming anthem ‘Cool Slut’. Signing about how girls get all dressed up, just to get dressed back down Chastity Belt share their message of acceptance with the world: “To all the girls in the world, trying to take off their shirts, ladies it’s okay to be… it’s okay to be slutty.”

Frolicking on the beach and in the park before chin-chining glasses of wine around a kitchen table, the girls front an array of gaudy cardigans and mom-jeans that would give Saved by the Bell’s Kelly Kapowski a run for her money.

Take a look at the video for ‘Cool Slut’ and remember, ladies, it’s okay to be slutty.
