People seem to think that because the construction of the group is synthetic, the music that they create together doesn\u2019t hold any artistic weight. However, if you look at recent history, those detractors couldn\u2019t be more misinformed. In reality, there\u2019s a long history of groups being put together, from the singles era of Motown to The X Factor, and manufactured groups have proven themselves to be an important force in music.<\/p>\n<p>Around 20 years ago, five girls from around the country auditioned and were put together in a shared house where they wrote, rehearsed and built up a long, if sometimes tumultuous, friendship. Later, when that girl group put out one of the most iconic songs in pop history, \u2018Wannabe\u2019, a Spice revolution was born. Little do people know that the Spice Girls had important roles when it came to crafting their distinctive groove-filled tracks that influenced pop culture far beyond their short-lived reign atop the charts.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, modern pop music was forever changed when Girls Aloud were formed as part of Popstars: The Rivals. What would life be like if we hadn\u2019t had singles such as \u2018Sound Of The Underground\u2019 or \u2018Biology\u2019? While Girls Aloud\u2019s way or working was unorthodox, handing over the reins of their output to longtime collaborators Xenomania, it\u2019s undeniable that their impact can be felt today.<\/p>\n<p>While now girl groups might be struggling to be heard over the multitude of screaming girls fainting at the sight of Harry Styles\u2019 hair, room has been made for a different breed. Bands like Haim and Juce are paving their own way, paying homage to the girls before them but taking the industry on with their own distinctive sound. It seems that everyone is looking to make their mark in the history of the girl groups. That\u2019s why Sony is looking for girls to Be In The Band.<\/p>\n<p>A unique approach to creating a band, the brief is looking for girls that can play instruments with an alternative edge \u2013 this is a band that needs attitude. Rather than holding auditions, hopefuls can enter online where, if successful, they will be asked back to audition.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/media.wonderlandmagazine.com\/uploads\/2015\/03\/one-direction-wonderland-magazine-louis-tomlinson.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-47375\" alt=\"one-direction-wonderland-magazine-louis-tomlinson\" src=\"\/\/media.wonderlandmagazine.com\/uploads\/2015\/03\/one-direction-wonderland-magazine-louis-tomlinson.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Apparently backed by Louis Tomlinson of 1D fame (it is said he is due to be at every audition day and is certainly someone who knows all about putting together a group as he\u2019s in one), this new group will be forging new territory.
