Forget traditional Bourbon’s, there’s a new whisky in town. Make way for Suntory, best served with sushi

It’s not often you hear the words sushi and whisky in the same sentence, but when it comes to premium Japanese whisky Suntory, that’s exactly how it’s enjoyed best. Embarking on a Japanese journey last weekend, in favour of London Restaurant Festival, we experienced six of London’s finest Japanese eateries for a different taster dish in each, washed down with a highball of Suntory whisky served on the rocks with a dash of soda water – our new favourite tipple. Retaining its unique flavour profile when served with soda, it’s the perfect way to cleanse the palette between dishes. Having visited Kurobuta, Sticks N Sushi, Shoryu Ramen, Tonkotsu, Kanada-Ya and Chisou in one day, it’s safe to say we had our fill of sushi, with our two most memorable servings taking place at Sticks N Sushi (both the Sticks platter and the Sushi plate were to die for) and Kurobuta (the BBQ pork belly buns served with spicy pent soy are a must). We’ve got a new favourite hobby (restaurant hopping), a new favourite drink (Suntory) and as ever, sushi is the snack de jour.
