<\/a><\/p>\nTaken from the September Issue of Rollacoaster Magazine<\/a>, on sale now:<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cDon\u2019t write that I was in my pyjamas looking minging,\u201d laughs the perfectly formed Liverpudlian blonde in front of me. \u201cSay I was looking really glam!\u201d There\u2019s no way in a million years that Abbey Clancy could ever look \u201cminging\u201d, even if she tried. We\u2019ve seen her battle her way to first place on Strictly Come Dancing<\/i> (\u201cI was a maniac\u201d), witnessed blood, sweat and tears on Hell\u2019s Kitchen<\/i> (\u201cOh god, I forgot about that\u201d) and her pre-fame days on Britain\u2019s Next Top Model<\/i> before she was catapulted into the spotlight \u2013 and never once has she looked anything less than ideal. Even now, stood barefaced in her lounge clothes while cooking a stew, she looks quite the domesticated goddess in her Primrose Hill apartment. \u201cAs you can see [Hell\u2019s Kitchen<\/i>] taught me a few skills,\u201d she laughs.<\/p>\n That\u2019s the first thing I learn about Clancy – family means everything. She lives with her daughter Sophia, husband Peter Crouch and brother Sean, also a footballer, who\u2019s just texted her a photo of a vintage brown fur coat she might like. Having just returned from Disneyland Paris (\u201cIt was great, but the queues were just insane and everyone is so rude there!\u201d), the second thing I note about Clancy is how much she values manners. \u201cThe woman I idolise the most is my mum,\u201d she says. \u201cI think she\u2019s a strong woman who raised four kids to be good-mannered, hard working, kind and happy. I just think she\u2019s amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n Family aside, her fashion idol is Brigitte Bardot. \u201cI think she\u2019s just insane. A sex Goddess, I love her.\u201d For Clancy, it seems sex is always on the brain; whether it\u2019s reflecting on her Rollacoaster<\/i> shoot (\u201cThere was me and a young, half naked 19 year old boy. I was blushing like a child or a pervert, very unprofessional, but I was just so nervous and red.\u201d) or her relationship with LOVE <\/i>publisher and super-stylist Katie Grand (\u201cI always end up naked with Katie!\u201d).<\/p>\n It\u2019s Grand who Clancy credits for helping her find her fashion feet. \u201cShe\u2019s done so much for me that I could never pay her back for, she\u2019s a gorgeous person who\u2019s helped me so much,\u201d she enthuses. \u201cThe first time I met her was when she asked me to do a shoot for LOVE<\/i>. I turned up and she had a list of people there who were in the public eye, but not really seen in that <\/i>fashion-y way. We just hit it off.\u201d \u201cAbbey is infectious – the epitome of a \u2018bubbly blonde\u2019,\u201d says Grand. \u201cShe\u2019s smart, hilarious, fun, has legs forever and one of the most rocking bodies I\u2019ve ever seen. She loves clothes and has a perfect fugure for them (and bikinis). She really is a great girl, I\u00a0love her.\u201d<\/p>\n Abbey wears black cotton bra by La Perla and pearl drop earrings by Chanel Fine Jewellery.<\/em><\/p>\n Clancy\u2019s first flirtation with fame came when she started a girl band called Genie Queen as a teen. \u201cI loved singing when I was younger,\u201d she recalls. \u201cBut it\u2019s not something that I talk about. It\u2019s highly embarrassing!\u201d After a quick Google search, I can see why Clancy is keen to lock her inner pop star in the past, citing Britain\u2019s Next Top Model <\/i>as her big break. \u201cEight weeks away from home was quite scary and all the girls were fighting like cats and dogs,\u201d she recalls. \u201cI didn\u2019t like all the bitchiness. I put a stone on in the house too, because I just couldn\u2019t stop eating. They used to just feed us boxes of M&S flapjacks and I\u2019d just eat them all day. I do love the show though.<\/p>\n Upon leaving the show, Clancy\u2019s career snowballed, kicking of with her first \u201cWAG\u201d outing to Portugal with the England football team. \u201cAll my clothes were in my bag and they were all crappy and dirty from the [BNTP<\/i>] house. The next thing I knew I was sitting in my crappy high street dress having dinner with Victoria Beckham who was done up to death!\u201d But in truth, Clancy\u2019s not interested in being a WAG. \u201cI don\u2019t really take offence to it, but it amuses me what people think is the reality. It\u2019s not really real life – what you see in the magazines. They\u2019re all normal girls going out with footballers.\u201d No, she has bigger fish to fry: recently locking herself away for days on end, she designed a range of dresses for Liverpudlian retailer Matalan. \u201cI work hard and I love to work, but I try and pick jobs on whether or not they will be fun,\u201d she says, matter-of-factly.<\/p>\n Abbey wears black and green feather dress by Alberta Ferretti and hoop earrings by Dior Joaillerie<\/em><\/p>\n When it came to deciding whether to appear on Strictly Come Dancing,<\/i> she admits she needed persuading. \u201cThey had asked me to do it for a few years, and I had never been interested in doing it,\u201d Clancy explains. \u201cI thought there was nothing worse than going on TV and humiliating yourself, doing something you can\u2019t do! But after having the baby, I needed some \u2018me\u2019 time and something exciting to do. And there I was, six months later, winning it.\u201d She makes it sound so simple, but if one thing is for sure, Clancy doesn\u2019t do things by halves. \u201cI became so obsessed with it and so caught up in the Strictly<\/i> bubble, that all my friends thought I was a complete psycho. One [friend] bought me a Strictly<\/i> swear box, because it\u2019s all I could talk and think about. I think everyone should take up dancing. You have a new lease of life and just feel great.\u201d<\/p>\n If dancing is one of Clancy\u2019s musts, we\u2019re hoping for a revolutionary recommendation when it comes to maintaining a perfectly proportioned figure. As expected, we\u2019re out of luck. \u201cI went to the gym today for the first time since May and it nearly killed me! I\u2019m just non-stop. I\u2019m always running around, but I eat like a horse. I think everyone in my family is tall and thin. My baby weighs about ten stone, and I\u2019m always lifting her! That\u2019s a workout on its own,\u201d she LOLs.<\/p>\n One of Clancy\u2019s most iconic fashion moments was walking for Giles Deacon\u2019s AW11 show. Naturally she looked impeccable – and, ugh, was pregnant<\/i> at the time, too. \u201cI had boobs like Pamela Anderson!\u201d she hollers. \u201cIt was so fun. I love doing the high-end stuff… Not a lot of people see me in that way, but Katie has put me in Russian Vogue<\/i> and on various front covers. I enjoy it, because I can dress up and be someone else. Someone a bit sexier and a bit harder.\u201d Isn\u2019t she sexy enough already? No, she\u2019s aiming higher. \u201cI want to shoot for Versace – their campaigns are so glamorous and sexy.\u201d Oh, and then there\u2019s \u201cVictoria\u2019s Secret… That\u2019s the only real goal I\u2019ve ever had.<\/p>\n Abbey wears black satin bra by Agent Provocateur, jewelled headpiece by Victoria Grant and black gloves by Paul Seville.
