Opening Ceremony have thought outside the box with their latest collaboration, using renowned florist Thierry Boutemy’s work as inspiration

It seems these days we are under attack from a constant barrage of fashion collaborations. Whether it is the high-low pairings we have come to love à la H&M, celebrities lending their vision to a brand, or simply two designers coming together to create something original – the formula is often the same. This season, Opening Ceremony have thought outside the box somewhat and looked to the organic creations of the renowned florist Thierry Boutemy to inspire a summer collection of men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, accessories and fragrance.

Boutemy, who is most well known for his work on Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette, has also had work published in Vogue, Nowness and Elle. Speaking of the collaboration, Opening Ceremony’s creative director Humberto Leon says:

“We’ve been following Thierry’s work for some time now and have been in awe of his incredible talent, especially the lavishly designed arrangements in Marie Antoinette. There’s no one who captures the essence and spirit of flowers as Thierry does, and we are excited to be partnering with him for his first fashion collection.”

The collection itself features smashed and decayed floral prints on existing Opening Ceremony silhouettes, including bomber jackets, boxy tees and camis. There are also exclusive shoes in collaboration with Manolo Blahnik, Chukka and Vans, and also hats from New Era. Boutemy and Opening Ceremony have also worked in conjunction with Le Labo, to create a limited edition fragrance, Geranium 30, which uses floral notes and rich spices to give the feeling of a wild, untamed garden.

With all the pieces available now in Opening Ceremony stores worldwide and online, make sure you don’t miss it, as this is a collection that won’t be in bloom for long.
