All aboard the love train! We’re thrown back to swinging seventies psychedelia via a nineties pit stop at Topman Design SS15

Aptly named SeventiesNineties, Topman SS15 harked back to ‘70s psyhchedelia immersing spectators with a feel-good haze of Woostock vibes, borrowing a few staple trends from the ‘90s along the way.

Kicking it back to the old-school, the catwalk was awash with silk floral print shirts, skinny jumbo cords, turtle necklines, flower infused robes, miss-matched patchwork, candy-hued pastel tailoring, velvet textures, thick rim glasses, fringed leather, sports socks, flared trousers, dreamy double denim and washed out logos reading ‘Woodstock’ and ‘Mexico’.

Paying homage to the happy-go-lucky music fuelled era, yellow and black daisy print morphed from nan’s carpet and onto the catwalk, having never looked so chic, whilst a faded out acid-bright landscape print strewn upon a silky fabric mirrored that on the show invitation.

Stand out looks came in the shape of a glitter-clad mint green power suit a la Mick Jagger and an aqua blue and Parma Violet hued towelling short and robe combo, worn with matchy-matchy printed box suitcase, which came in close second.

Each individual reference sublimated into a heady mix of psychadelic Woodstock meets Brit Pop hedonism, manifested to the sound of Blur – ‘Girls & Boys’, Todd Terje – ‘Inspector Norse’ and a string of other hits du jour. All aboard the Topman love train, you’re in for a real good ride.
