‘Rip It Up’ was the title of the video accompanying the AllSaints AW14 collection, and so it was, ripped and layered with clashes of textures. Creative Director Wil Beedle explained that his inspiration stemmed from spending time around East London and observing the walls lined with posters that are then ripped down and layered under fresh ones.

The collection featured 20 looks for women and 14 for men and a 60ft video installation of ‘Rip It Up’ which you can watch below. When talking of the collection Wil said “Each day, I witness an ever-evolving collage of posers around the streets of East London. Old ones get ripped; new ones replace them. It’s like a multi-layered, living and breathing artwork that I’ve come to refer to as Rip It Up. This notion of Rip It Up connects every aspect of the collection: the brand attitude, the clothes themselves, the environment in which they are designed, and the resulting video installation created in these same streets.”

The clothes are a definite step in the right direction for AllSaints, with clean layered silhouettes. Fabrics included soft leathers and cashmeres, mohair, velvets and satins in a simplistic dark colour palette of greys, blacks, camel and infrequent hints of deep oxblood and carmine red. The sharp tailored coats and cutaway detailing were perfect especially the boxy camel leather piece.
