{"id":24293,"date":"2013-10-11T14:59:08","date_gmt":"2013-10-11T14:59:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wonderlandmagazine.com\/?p=24293"},"modified":"2013-10-11T15:02:29","modified_gmt":"2013-10-11T15:02:29","slug":"lazarides-and-the-vinyl-factory-present-brutal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wonderlandmagazine.com\/2013\/10\/11\/lazarides-and-the-vinyl-factory-present-brutal\/","title":{"rendered":"LAZARIDES AND THE VINYL FACTORY PRESENT:  BRUTAL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Vinyl Factory present a exhibition of original artwork showcasing artists response to the theme &#8216;Brutal&#8217;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Sixteen artists will showcase dynamic installations, murals, film, animation, sound and dance interventions below 180 The Strand.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/media.wonderlandmagazine.com\/uploads\/2013\/10\/BRUTAL-Conor-1-e1381501152129.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24298\" alt=\"BRUTAL Conor 1\" src=\"\/\/media.wonderlandmagazine.com\/uploads\/2013\/10\/BRUTAL-Conor-1-e1381501152129.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Coinciding with Frieze Art Fair<em> Brutal<\/em> follows Bedlam (2012), The Minotaur (2011), Hell\u2019s Half Acre (2010), Shut Down Show (2008), and Shadow Lounge Auction (2007) to become Lazarides\u2019 sixth curated off-site exhibition. The exhibition will see brand new works from regular contributors Antony Micallef, Doug Foster and Lucy McLauchlan as well as artworks and performances from a diverse range of international guest artists. <a href=\"\/\/media.wonderlandmagazine.com\/uploads\/2013\/10\/BRUTAL-Conor-1-e1381501152129.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24298\" alt=\"BRUTAL Conor 1\" src=\"\/\/media.wonderlandmagazine.com\/uploads\/2013\/10\/BRUTAL-Conor-1-e1381501152129.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>LA based Cleon Peterson will be exhibiting his largest murals to date, exposing a world of violent figures and chaotic battle scenes. Alongside multi-layered murals from Outsiders favourite DALeast and a unique installation from Chicago\u2019s contemporary graffiti star, Pose. Esteven Oriol displays an intimate portrait of LA gang culture in his unmerciful photographic pieces, alongside Bill McRight\u2019s fierce handmade weapons designed from found objects and street paraphernalia. NYC veteran Todd James aka REAS brings a fresh comic book animation with a colourful sense of horror to the show, while chilling film installations from Doug Foster and Karim Zeriahen submerge visitors into a haunting experience far away from the modern metropolis they entered from.<\/p>\n<p><a
