Noel Gallagher loves them, but don’t let that put you off these neo-psych superstars in the making. Turn on, tune in, trip out.

"Temples"

Marc Bolan lookalike as a frontman? Tick. Unabashed neo-psych by way of the Kinks? Tick. Noel Gallagher apparently ‘worships’ them? Tick. Temples – Midlands boys and Charlie Boyer and the Voyeurs tourmates – are peddling warped, trippy nostalgia sounds to warm the heart and soul. The band spoke to Wonderland before the release of their new single Colours To Life.

How did Temples come about?

Temples originally started as a recording project between James and myself. We recorded a set of demos last summer and put them on the internet and didn’t really think past that. But then were asked to play some live shows, so we decided we’d better put a band together in Kettering with Samuel Toms (drums), Adam Smith (sounds, tambourine) and we haven’t stopped since.

There’s a definite psychedelic influence to your music, who did you listen to growing up? Did this genre have a big impact on you?

It was probably the genre that brought us all together, there was never many clubs in Kettering that’d play that sort of music, so we would just go round each others houses and listen to loads of records. It’s such a broad genre, which is what’s so great about it.
