Directional shapes meet muted colouring (and white!) at Astrid Andersen’s first solo show at LC:M.

Tight. Bright. Basic Instinct white. It was hard not to fall a little in love with the clothes (and the super stacked models) at Astrid Andersen’s first solo show at LC:M. Stuffed full of the usual cool basketball-inspired sportswear, there was something almost tongue in cheek about watching well-oiled men parade down the catwalk in tight white bodysuits and cycling shorts before an audience of well-dressed gents in three piece suits and pocket squares. Oh, the irony etc etc.

Astrid experimented with a variety of fabrics for spring/summer 14. First up there was lace, seen on sheer t-shirts and meggings, and then there was pale green velour – the fabric chosen for her trousers and long-sleeved tops. Finally, the collection was sprinkled with cut-away (it’s not just for girls, you know). One tee was cut all the way up to the neck to reveal a muscle-bound dewy chest, and others were stopped just above the waistline – male crop tops with a feminine sensibility. It was certainly a collection for the sartorially brave. That or we all need to get down to the gym stat.
