“Obsessive, compulsive, re-order” was the order of the day at Christopher Shannon, inspired by the towering piles of clothes found in hoarders’ homes. We go backstage to find out if there’s any method to the madness.

Apparently, Christopher Shannon mainlined documentaries profiling hoarders and OCD sufferers while creating his latest collection. But while that might imply images of anarchic clutter, Shannon stuck true to his signature zippy, clean silhouette. Instead, chaos was channelled through patchwork colour blocking and zip-away sleeves.

Gaffer tape snaked down trousers in a DIY approach to sports stripes, and for the first time, Shannon experimented with knits and leather, sending out oversized leather shirts and patchwork knits with reworked smiley faces (we spied a craftily concealed Spongebob Squarepants face). Shannon tentatively dipped a toe into womenswear too, sending down five looks for girls – so keep an eye on this one. He’s got big plans.

MORE LONDON COLLECTIONS: MEN COVERAGE Words: Zing Tsjeng “Obsessive, compulsive, re-order” was the order of the day at Christopher Shannon, inspired by the towering piles of clothes found in hoarders’ homes.
