To commemorate tonight&#8217;s Opening Ceremony, we count down the best moments of past ceremonies. Now all we have to do is pray for sunshine. <\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>(1) Athens, 2004: Bjork sings Oceania<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QzrqHaHiu8g\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not every Olympics country that manages to convince Bjork to write and perform a song for them &#8211; while wearing a 9,000 square feet dress.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(2) Beijing, 2008: Drumming song<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iySCiDaaldw\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>You can criticise China for a lot of things, but putting on a bad show isn\u2019t exactly one of them. <\/p>\n<p><strong>(3) Los Angeles, 1984: Rocket man flies in<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QBCetGNwwtM\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Opening ceremonies used to be a rather sedate affair \u2013 until LA stepped in and flew a man into the stadium on a jetpack. Welcome to Hollywood. <\/p>\n<p><strong>(4) Barcelona, 1992: Antonio Rebollo shoots and scores<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/b5gZeT4TVds\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Just another garden-variety Olympic torch lighting? Not when you\u2019ve got a Paralympian archer shooting the torch over the heads of hundreds of spectators and straight into the cauldron. <\/p>\n<p><strong>(5) Atlanta, 1996: Mohammed Ali lights the torch<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5TaITzi64Sw\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Mohammed Ali was suffering from Parkinson\u2019s and his hands were shaking, but that didn\u2019t stop him from triumphantly lighting the flame right before Martin Luthor King\u2019s \u2018I Have A Dream\u2019 speech played.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(6) Turin, 2006: Pavarotti sings for Italy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MwBiU_RXs4w\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Not every country can lay claim to a 20-stone opera superstar bursting into song at the exact moment the Olympic cauldron bursts into flame.
