After checking out ‘Liminal’ the debut album from The Acid – we wanted to experience their sound first hand – so we caught up with the band in their rehearsal space in South London.

The Acid comprises of acclaimed Australian songwriter; Ry X, LA-native Steve Nalepa and Grammy nominee/Brighton boy Adam Freeland. Together they build a dark and hypnotic brand of electronica that’s as much visually enticing as it is sonically in their live shows. We were treated to an intimate and dark performance of ‘Fame’.

Check out more of their music, cinematic videos and upcoming tour dates over at http://wearetheacid.com/
And get your hands on the album here – http://shop.wearetheacid.com/

Bronx-born Maxine Ashley serenades us all the way from New York, with a track from her new EP ‘Mood Swings’.

Creating melodies in her bedroom almost seem like a distant memory for Maxine Ashley, now that she’s recording with rapper, Lil’ Wayne and getting re-tweets from her pal Pharrell Williams, both of whom she used to cite as influences.

The soulful sounds from the 20 year old are mature beyond her youth and her rebellious spirit seethes throughout her debut EP ‘Mood Swings‘ which was produced by the Grammy winner Krucial, whose previous accolades include Alicia Keys and Nas. We caught up with the soloist in The Big Apple where she performed her rendition of ‘Glory Box‘ for us at Wonderland.

Mr Hudson returns to music and performs an exclusive session of new track ‘Fred Astaire’ just for us.

After what seems like a long overdue hiatus, Kanye’s former protege is back to doing what he does best and return to form on his first brand new track in over a year!

The platinum crooner strips it back and keeps it simple, sporting shades and a vest in an exclusive session shot for us at Wonderland. Mr H returns to the live circuit at the end of this week as he performs at London’s Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen on October 25th.

New York based American duo Ms Mr perform an exclusive version of ‘Fantasy’ especially for us.

The enigmatic pairing of Lizzy Plapinger and Max Hershenow has caught the eyes and ears of critics alike. The bands twisted sensibility teamed alongside their dark, psychological pop songs has resulted in several viral tracks that have blasted through the blogosphere and become an almost overnight online sensation.

‘Secondhand Rapture’, the ambient, ethereal debut record from the two, coexists with their fascination of art and visuals.

Wonderland unveiled the mystery as the couple performed a live version of their track ‘Fantasy‘, exclusively for us which will be part one of a double session set.

When we sat down with Jonathan Bailey, we weren’t sure what, or who, to expect — the goofball anti-academic in the short-lived (and well loved) Campus, the pensive and radical thinker Leonardo Da Vinci (yep, he’s another one) in BBC’s Leonardo, or the hardline budding journo in ITV’s hit Broadchurch. Turns out, he’s just a really cool, talented dude — it’s not called acting for nothing.

What’s the one item of clothing you’d never wear?

A catsuit. Or clogs.

Leonardo da Vinci or Leonardo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

Da Vinci. The original super hero.

When are you happiest?

When listening to music on the move.

What’s your earliest memory?

Throwing a cup of ribena on my sister.

Comedy or drama?

Comedy – nice and easy to dip into.

What instrument would you play in a band?

I’d play my recently purchased cello… badly.

Last Christmas, Lily James won audiences over with her portrayal of Lady Rose, the hellraising grand-niece of Maggie Smith’s Downton Abbey dowager. In an exclusive video and shoot for Wonderland, she takes off the blonde curls and shows us her best a sixties siren instead.

Lily James (Image: Jessie Craig)

Tipped by some to be the “next big thing in British acting”, James has come a long way since playing Billie Piper’s flatmate in Secret Diary of a Callgirl. Here, she tells us she’ll always be Team Maggie.

Where did you grow up? I lived in Surrey my whole life until I went to drama school and have lived in various parts of Hackney ever since.

Last lie you told? I don’t usually lie, I can’t lie, but I’ve had to tell a few big lies recently! But I can’t say…

Biggest guilty pleasure? I don’t really watch that much TV, so I guess it would be chicken and chips after a night out.

Period drama or sci-fi epic? Period drama.

Maggie Smith or Shirley McClaine? Has to be Maggie Smith.

Dream dinner date? Getting properly dressed up and going somewhere fancy is fun as I’m usually so casual.

Best comfort food? Marmite on toast.

Weirdest childhood memory? When we were on a family holiday when I was younger and the pool was so freezing cold that I spent my time dancing around it instead, attracting a steadily bigger crowd…

What’s a typical day on the Downton Abbey set like? Early call time, blonde wig which takes forever to put on, three outfit changes of beautiful vintage 1920s dresses, a lot of sitting around drinking tea and eating biscuits with a bit of acting sandwiched in.

Yourself in three words. Instinctive, extreme, friendly.

Joseph Turvey set our hearts on fire with his playful (and puppy-full) installation at last week’s London Collections. But don’t take our word for it: take a look at it in our exclusive video.

Joseph Turvey from Juan José Lorenzo on Vimeo.

Along with Bobby Abley, London-based menswear designer Turvey is one of the newcomers to the Fashion East stable, joining other up-and-comers like Kit Neale and Maarten van der Horst. Inspired by Cruella DeVille, he transplanted the spots of her Dalmations onto bomber jackets, cashmere jumpers and a hoody, delighting the crowds with his technical ability, passion and playful approach to fabric. Fashion East has always been a fertile breeding ground for new British talent – and Joseph Turvey is no different.

2013 is proving to be a promising year for East London quartet, Rascals. As well as being nominated for MTV’s Brand New 2013 award and bringing in heavy support from Radio 1, this week the boys kick off a support slot with rap heavyweight Kendrick Lamar.

Born and bred in Bow, East London (a few streets down from elder statesmen of grime Wiley and Dizzee Rascal), Kay Willz, Big Shizz, Tempz and Merkz are still in their late teens, but make no bones about it – the four are looking to stamp their distinctive voices all over the UK rap scene. They tell us more about life through their eyes and serenade us with their track ‘Knights Over Egypt’.

In a new installment of Wonderland Sessions, our new acoustic video series, gothic-folk popstress Kyla La Grange takes us branch-picking with her band, tells us about her Major Lazer crush and sings Heavy Stone for us.

Kyla La Grange has been a slow-burning star on the British singer-songwriter scene, with her raspy-voiced tales of love and loss garnering her comparisons to Cat Power and Laura Marling. But we think the Watford native is in a class of her own – just listen and learn. www.kylalagrange.com
