]]> Hampshire trio, Wild Smiles, are a band making a lot of noise throughout the UK. With their debut album, ‘Always Tomorrow’, released last week getting a lot of buzz, and a few upcoming tour dates in the calendar – we thought it best to bring them to your attention now.

We caught them at The Social for a performance of their track, ‘Girlfriend’ – a roaring track that channels the late, great Ramones.

Having already clocked up a string of radio plays from key influencers with their recent single ‘Fool For You’, it’s safe to say things have kicked off with a bang for the Wild Smiles trio.

Comprising of brothers Chris and Joe Peden along with drummer Ben Cook, Wild Smiles have taken the music scene by storm with their addictive lo-fi offerings and lyrical truths. Set to release their debut album ‘Always Tomorrow’ on Sunday Best recordings this October, their new single ‘Never Wanted This’ is due for release August 18th and today we premiere the video exclusively on Wonderland.

True to their unique sound influenced by the drones of Velvet Underground, the low-fi garage clatter of Jesus & Mary Chain and the filth of Nirvana, ‘Never Wanted This’ features melodic lyrics, a progressive drum beat and guitar crescendos; whilst the lyrics offer a bold rejection of the dull aspects of prescribed day to day life. Singing: “I could get a job I could wear a suit. A monkey in a suit to make some money”, Wild Smiles mock the mundane in a loveable fashion. “It’s our perception of life,” says Ben. “Not the voice of a generation but just how we three see it.”
