Age: 19

Hometown: Beaminster in Dorset

I was scouted: Last December at Clothes Show Live in Birmingham

Favourite childhood memory: At home walking a cow around on a lead. Once I found him in the kitchen next to the fridge.

Home is: Back in Dorset, I love it there, you can see the sea from my bedroom window.

Pets: Two dogs, a cat and a house chicken called Machickin.

Favourite London hangout: Pubs around Whitechapel, I love to chill out with my friends.

Favourite place in the world: I went to Boom festival in Portugal. The mountains were beautiful and it was amazing to sit around the massive lake, swimming in the day and listening to music in the evening.

Dream destination: The Rocky Mountains in America or exploring a jungle.

Favourite food: My mum’s homemade soup.

Dream dinner date: Charles Saatchi, I think he would be intense but really interesting.

Favourite movie: At the moment, probably Clueless.

Music I like: Arctic Monkeys, Palma Violets, Foals and punk music.

Favourite song: Palma Violets, Best of Friends. My boyfriend introduced me to it and now I can’t stop playing it!

Career highlight so far: Going to Germany to shoot for Puma, that was really fun. I’m also excited to be going to Japan in January for two months.

Select lovely Alex Rose talks to us about her love of ketchup bagels and Hugh Laurie.

Age: 19

Hometown: Winchester

Where I was scouted: In December 2009 at the Birmingham Clothes Show.

Current obsession: Hi-tops. Also in my head I believe Matt Smith and I will have children.

Pet peeve: Undeserved arrogance.

Guilty pleasure: Sex & The City and Sean Paul.

Last lie I told: I told someone I was a really really good ballet dancer and was going to be in the next Swan Lake.

Dream job: I’d love to work in a festival food van because you would never ever be hungry, you’d meet loads of people and only have to work three months of the year.

Favourite childhood memory: Sounds a bit weird but one Christmas I was at my uncle’s house and a fire started. Luckily is wasn’t too bad but we ended up having Christmas dinner with the fireman underneath the burnt holes made by the fire.

Where is home: The Black Boy pub in Winchester, it’s full of taxidermy. It’s a fun place to go drink beer, play board games and stroke fake cats!

Favourite food: Ketchup bagel

Dream dinner date: Hugh Laurie, I just want to sit on his lap and get him to read me stories.

I like my eggs: When I moved to my own place in Brixton I couldn’t cook so I lived on fried egg sandwiches for a week. I like both sides fried, I can’t do that runny business.

Favourite movie: Dead Poets Society.

Least favourite movie: Drag Me To Hell, it’s a terrible film!

First cd I bought: Electric Avenue, I’ve still got it!

Music I love: Soul and motown, but right now I’m listening to a lot of old skool garage.

Most treasured possession: Fossilised dinosaur poo, there’s a big story behind it. It will never leave my bedside.

Career highlight: Doing a shoot at a funfair, and I did a shoot backstage at the 1234 festival, I had a mohawk and wore one of Lady Gaga’s tops. That was fun.

I would describe myself as.. I met a Scottish man at a festival, he turned around to me and said I was a romantic built on kinky foundations. I think that’s a pretty good description.

Happiest moment: Watching the sunset on a beach listening to my Pulp Fiction soundtrack and drinking free mojitos.

We had the pleasure of catching up with boy of the moment Ben Allen from Select, who took the modelling world by storm after opening for Prada last season. Now he's hanging out with A$AP Rocky & casting for David Sims – and it all started with a friend spitting in the street.

Ben wears top by Christopher Shannon

Age: 16
Hometown: Brockley

Where I was scouted: Six months ago, on Portobello Road. My friend was messing around in the street and accidentally spat on some guy's shoe. Whilst the guy was having a go at us, the girl he was with interrupted and asked if I'd ever modelled. Two days later I was at a casting for David Sims.

Current obsession: Peep Show.

Pet peeve: Overpriced transport, unoriginality and generic hash tagging.

Guilty pleasure: I have so many! Nicki Minaj, trashy reality TV, Twitter.

Last lie I told: What time I'd be coming home tonight.

Dream job: The cliche answer for me would be footballer, but as a kid I wanted to be an inventor. I was always pretending to make potions.

Favourite childhood memory: I really loved going to the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum. I always used to go from one to the other as they're so close to each other. I liked the games at the Science Museum.

Favourite London hang out: My garden. I've got a log cabin with a sofa and huge sound system so I pretty much live in there.

Going out or staying in: Going out, I'm always up for a party!

Favourite place in the world Before NYFW I went to a private Caribbean Island with my friends. It was the most amazing holiday I've ever been on. It's depressing I probably won't ever go on a holiday somewhere like that again.

Dream dinner date: Mila Kunis, not just because she's unbelievably hot but I like her sense of humour and that she's the voice of Meg in Family Guy. I think I would laugh a lot with her.

I like my eggs: With no attitude.

Favourite movie: Friday with Chris Tucker and Ice Cube. It's so bad it's good.

Favourite cartoon That's so difficult, it's a toss between Avatar: The Legend of Aang or Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. Those are the winners for me.

First gig: It was either the Underage festival or when Babyshambles played at Wembley. Dizzee Rascal was the support act which I thought was a weird choice but I really enjoyed it.

Favourite song: At the moment Juicy J, Stoners Night Part 2.

Most treasured possession: My cat. I call her Babes.

Last thing I bought: Fifa 13, a coat, hat and I got some photos developed.

Shows I've walked: Prada, Jonathan Saunders, Hugo Boss, Hackett, Acne, Dries Van Noten, Nicole Farhi and Richard Nicoll.

Career highlight Opening the Prada show and meeting A$AP Rocky. I had a really nice conversation with him, which was cool.

Future plans: I'm currently doing my A Levels so finishing them, also I'd like to keep doing this and see where I end up!

Am I happy? Extremely.

The industry’s current obsession with beautiful tattooed boys has only been fuelled further with the arrival of Venice Beach native Jimmy Q from Select, a pro skateboarder and tattoo artist who also models for some of the coolest brands around.

How did you become a model?

I first modelled at 7 years old and more recently I freelanced in Los Angeles. I decided I wanted to live in London so I sent an email to a few modelling agencies and Select were the first to respond.

What were you doing before modelling?

I’m also a professional skateboarder and tattoo artist. I did my tattoo apprenticeship in Venice Beach, California where I grew up. I started practising on my friends and went from there. I did art before tattooing so it made it easier to transition to that medium.

What do you like to do when you’re not modelling?

Tattoo-ing, skateboarding or chilling at home. I’m a real homebody so I like cooking dinner and watching films. I stay at home as much as possible.

What type of music do you like?

I like all music, from country to punk rock. Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan. I’ve been listening to a lot of country/ rockabilly recently.

What’s your favourite film?

Stepbrothers, Pulp Fiction & Reservoir Dogs.

Would you rather be attacked by a big bear or a swarm of bees?

Bears. I’m deeply terrified of bees, I could deal with a bear but not bees.

What shows did you walk in last season?

I just did London. Oliver Spencer and Vauxhall Fashion Scout.

What’s your favourite place to hang out in London?

I enjoy going shopping in Camden

Is there a person in the industry that inspires you?

A number of people in my life inspire me. I’m my own inspiration by pure willpower of overcoming things in my life and achieving things I’ve wanted to. I put everything in to what I want and have always done my own thing. Music also really inspires me and interesting people.

What’s your favourite item of clothing?

My all-black polka dot three piece suit.

When you were a kid what did you dress up as for Halloween?

I dressed up every year. One year I dressed as a traditional cowboy. My godfather worked for the movie industry so he got me a proper old costume. I’ve also dressed up as a nun in sunglasses and a tourist with a black eye.

What couldn’t you live without?

My skateboard.

Do you sing in the car?

I sing everywhere!

What would you like to do in the future?

Succeed and get to the the top of everything I want to do. I strive to be the best.

This week, Alex Dunstan from Select Model Management came and charmed us…

How and when did you become a model?

It was at London Bridge when I was 16 or 17 years old. I went to buy some fags when a woman said I was beautiful. I thought it was just a chat up line but then she asked if I considered modelling. She managed to track me down a few months later and signed me.

What were you doing before modelling?

I was at college studying chemistry, biology, physics and psychology. I wanted to do something in bio chemistry/ toxicology. I’ve started going through stuff again in my spare time so I can do a new course to finish my studies.

What do you like to do when you’re not modelling?

Spending time with my girlfriend, doing tae kwon do and hanging out with my friends

What type of music do you like?

Anything to be honest. Into my soul and old stuff, like Eric Clapton.

What’s your favourite film?

True Romance is one of my favourites, it’s absolutely amazing.

What shows did you walk in last season?

Dior, Galliano, Thom Browne…. I did six shows in Milan and six in Paris.

Where has been your favourite place you’ve travelled to?

I spent a few months in Tokyo which was such a good experience. It was the biggest cultural difference I’ve had. I also liked Stockholm.

What’s your favourite place to hang out in London?

China Town. I like the restaurants which I’ve been going to since I was a kid. I grew up in south London so east Dulwich is also where I like to hang out.

What’s been your favourite fashion moment so far?

The Lanvin Gold fragrance campaign was the biggest job I’ve done. I also love working with James Long – I always wear his clothes, as far as I’m concerned he does the best jackets. The most fun I have ever had was in New York on a shoot with photographer John Tan. It was a little editorial at the back of a bar. There was only three of us: me, him and the stylist. We spent all day drinking Bloody Marys, smoking and shooting. It really was the most fun I’ve had on a shoot.

What would you like to do in the future?

I will do this as long as the work keeps coming in. My aim is to invest some of the money and get a flat or house. I also want to set some other things up so if I do finish doing this I have something to fall back on.

Beautifully Damned: As sugarcoated naivety and candy colours trend this season – much too soon before real summer – we hone in on the trend to inject it with a sullied new spirit, full of quiet revolt. Re-visiting Sofia Coppola’s The Virgin Suicides, this month’s shoot encapsulates a whimsical, unhinged innocence – an alternative to the suffocating pastel sweetness and puffy fifties shapes pervading throughout the spring/summer collections. Captured by Martha Boxley’s cinematic lens, the youthful endearment of the images gives its starring motif – florals – a poetic new lease of life. While some designers opted for tradition, lace appliqué and couture ambition (à la Chanel and Pucci), others like Christopher Kane dived headfirst to churn out childlike stickers on transparent organza chiffon, as inspired by a girl’s musings on her bedroom wall.

Current London print queen Mary Katrantzou sought a slouchier, and ultimately cooler, silhouette with photo-glazing of decadent gardens forming a lush canvas on her sculptural, slightly tailored cuts. Those more attuned to the harder winter season [unable to detract from long, oversized silhouettes] will revel in the multiplicity the trend provides: sports-infused bulky shoes (from trainers to Doc Martens to the silvery Rochas pair seen above) provide an edge to the ethereal all-white dresses. Indeed, it’s icy white – the colour of the season – lead by Louis Vuitton, Jil Sander and Versace that balances the sugarcane saturation of girls on horses at an idyllic fairground; following Coppola’s suit, this is a more voyeuristic, yet not less any majestic, walk across this season’s fairy tale park.
