As part of the BFC’s Fashion Film initiative, Private White V.C., Mr Hare and Christopher Shannon showcased collections with three short films on Saturday night of LCM at the Old Sorting Office. Previous features include the likes of Katie Eary, Joseph Turvey and Kinga Burza and the winning filmmaking and design candidates receive funding and mentoring from the BFC. You can watch all three clips here if you couldn’t make it to LCM. Go off road with Private White V.C., join Christopher Shannon in surveillance or get hypnotised by hips with Mr. Hare.

In a collaboration between River Island and British Fashion Council, The Fashion Film Initiative supports and showcases the cream of the crop of new UK-based designers and film makers. The partnership showcases and funds some of the most promising creatives blossoming under the fashion film umbrella, while supporting the use of film as the new digital medium to communicate fashion.

Mentoring such creatives – as well as aiding all important industry relationships – is at the core of the collaboration, as well as promoting and stimulating the growth of new designers and brands.Using key industry events to premiere chosen talent, the partnership encourages their exposure by hosting exclusive screenings at London Fashion Week and London Collections: Men with the aim to cement London at the centre of the digital revolution.

To celebrate the power and aptitude of fashion film, River Island, the British Fashion Council and Rollacoaster magazine will be hosting screenings of SS16 fashion films by Christopher Shannon, Mr Hare and Private White V.C. at this season’s London Collection: Men. From February next year James Long’s vivid and textured collection will be available in River Island stores all over the country. Priced between £28 and £90 this is a chance for anyone to buy a piece by this exciting emerging designer. With a key aesthetic of denim, leather and prints the 10-part line also features touches of PVC, nylon as well as hot pink piping on just about everything.

The focus piece of the collection is a bomber with removable sleeves that will transcend seasons. If you’re a fashion introvert (shame on you), but you still want a piece of the action, you can interject a hint of Long’s style into your daily look with a pair of sunglasses or a rucksack. This range is a chance for those most comfortable in streetwear to step out of their usual co-ords comfort zone and into Long’s world of hand-drawn designs and bold geometric prints.

Having already caught the eyes of creative directors and fashion directors this is James Long’s chance to make his name as those championed by River Island’s Design Forum have before him. By making the collection more accessible to high street customers without compromising on his own distinctive ideals, Long’s line is certain to fly off shelves.

Their latest drop builds on the strengths of previous collections, comprised of a capsule selection of classically masculine menswear in a clean, minimalist aesthetic, that manages to be both timeless and effortless.

River Island are proud to present the latest instalment in their STUDIO series, a selection of hero pieces designed in house. This time around monochrome is in favour, with accents of deep navy also present. Whilst colour is absent, the main focus is on intelligent design features and minimal but effective styling. Channelling classic masculinity, the collection features laid back sportswear silhouettes, smart outerwear and luxe technical fabrications. Overall the collection is slick and sophisticated, oozing contemporary cool.

The Studio Collection will launch in stores and online this October.
