Offering up a palette of beige, indigo, black and white to accentuate Acne’s chosen domineering colours of hot pink and saucy red, the Resort 16 collection a testament to soft, frayed linens and silks in a context of modern shapes. Stand out looks include the slitted wrap dress of beige and white stripes contrasted with a pink colour block, blue striped shirts paired with blue denim and the simply red leather coat. Cubist coloured patchworks meet halfway with the constant stripe motifs that run throughout, and contrasting fabrics of linen and organza silk reiterate the modernist melange. Each look, a statement of individuality is not without a statement of shaped colour, meanwhile chokers, white pumps and frayed pointed heels prove that Acne want to deliver something a little different for Resort 16 collection, something with an edge.

Complementing a soft colour scheme with loose cuts, meshed materials and pleats, Kenzo flush the utilitarian look with femininity for Resort 16. Buttons, pockets and belts everywhere pump up the functionality factor but playful cactus prints and loud Kenzo logos revive the attitude amongst grown up styles with dropped waist dresses and camouflage skirt co-ords. Blending into the background of the lookbook desert setting, the collection is coloured in military khaki, sandy beige and stony grey. Continuing the military theme, accessories come in the form of industrial water bottle clutches as well as the Kenzo bike bag and metallic fringed sandals.

An extension of the ideas and techniques seen in the luxurious Marc Jacobs AW15 showcase, the new Resort 16 collection takes on a bold colour palette of red, black and white, with some killer eyebrows and head scarves in the mix. Aiming to contrast in front of a fresh, sunny yellow backdrop put together by set designer Stefan Beckman, the collection is an amalgamation of classic Jacobs styles including the broderie anglaise and trompe l’oeil staples.

In true Jacob-ian style, flurries of light fabrics adorned in embellishments catch the eye, while more substantial pieces like the double-faced crepe wool jackets and long silk jersey skirts add weight to the collection. From the practicality of the geometric sweatshirts, to the indulgent flamboyancy of the off-the-shoulder crepe column gowns and the sheer embroidered dresses ornamented with dyed goose feather collars – the series promises flexible elegance with pops of red in all of the signature Marc Jacobs shapes.
