Ahead of their show at London Fashion Week this Sunday, the guys at Mulberry have produced a video introducing their new Creative Director, Johnny Coca. The Seville-born designer, who most recently worked as Design Director of Céline under Phoebe Philo, came to the iconic British brand in July. The appointment followed two years without clear leadership at the label and has been hailed as the beginning of a turnaround in Mulberry’s fortunes.

In the film, Coca outlines his plans for the brand – a focus on quality craftsmanship as well as carefully directional design – and explains his choice to revive an original 1970’s logo he found whilst burrowing in the Mulberry archives, saying, “I wanted to reinforce the British character and sensibility of Mulberry. It’s quite humbling – to be trusted with this brand that people love and feel is very much part of them and their lives. In my role as Creative Director I want to push the boundaries, but also respect the values and DNA at the core of Mulberry.” Sounds all good to us.

The LFW Mulberry show will take place at 4pm on Sunday 21st February
