A triple collaboration with sizes up to XXXL. Welcome to the vivid hyper-hued world of gay Manga

Opening Ceremony X Massive

June is LGDBT pride month, so what better time for collaboration between a two fashion brands and a gay illustrator famed for his depictions of happy, gay love.

Opening Ceremony and MASSIVE have launched a capsule collection featuring the illustration of gay Manga artist Jiraiya (not to be confused with the fictional character of the same name). Whilst MASSIVE produce a line of apparel and gay Manga they also produce original and translated books by gay Japanese comic artists, and have a ridiculously popular Tumblr that blew up last winter when they designed a sweatshirt featuring Jiraiya’s original artwork.

The artist himself, Jiraiya is best known for his photo real pin-up illustrations of gachimuchi men. The Japanese word literally translates as “muscular chubby”, but to us, beefcake hotties has the same affect. The illustrator says that his work is about celebrating different body shapes. “Not all Asian men are slight and petite,” he explains. Aptly, the collection is available on the website from sizes XS to triple-XL.

His approach involves drawing pin-ups freehand, then editing them with painstaking precision on the computer, resulting in comic books telling tales of a gay and happy life, that have been hugely popular among the Japanese gay (and otherwise) community since their debut in 1998.

Given the supernatural colours on the sweatshirts and the musclemen it features, any fans of Jiraiya’s work would have a hard time not feeling happy and strong when wearing his artwork, which is exactly what the artist intended. The capsule collection consists of t-shirts, muscle vests, rugby shorts and a beach towel, which allows you to lie on top of your very own gachimuchi. And to top the collection off, for the kinkier fans of sumo-sized hunks, is a well concealed sex toy with some very happy looking gachimuchi men for you to hold onto.
