Dream Mclean is proving a force to be reckoned with. His newest offering ‘D.W.I.D’ is Dream’s return to the online world; a high octane track featuring none other than UK chart-topper Professor Green, and acclaimed rapper, CASisDEAD.

The track is taken from Dream’s forthcoming Greyscale project, which will be released in November 2014 on Chase & Status’ label MTA Records, and solidifies Dream’s place in the UK market. Greyscale takes you on a journey of euphoric highs shadowed by the gritty lows of honest anguish, whilst delivering a new insight into the raw and visceral depths of the man that is Dream Mclean. Check out Dream’s Top 5 Beats below, to catapult you into the weekend.

Mobb Deep – Shook Ones Pt. II

“For me, one of the best hip-hop beats ever. A simple production; but dark and menacing. The instrumental alone paints a vivid picture of the NY projects, creates an atmosphere, and embodies that raw East Coast sound that I’ve always loved”.

Outkast – SpottieOttieDopaliscious

“A beat you can pretty much play to anybody, anywhere, in any situation, and put a smile on their face. Those horns kick in like an ecstasy pill on the beach at sunrise. So good they didn’t even have to rap on it”.

James Blake – The Wilhelm Scream

“This is more than just a beat, an electronic journey that continues to build seamlessly from a smooth peaceful start to a huge atmospheric finish; yet still remains delicately balanced throughout. I remember first hearing it and thinking I’ve never heard anything like it, I still feel the same way today”.

The Streets – Blinded By the Lights

“I feel like Mike Skinner created the most fitting backdrop for his tale of a messy night out with this – another perfectly simple, instantly recognisable beat. As soon as you first hear that off-time synth you feel as though you’re right there with him; blinded by the lights in a daze on the dance floor… that’s the one, Oi”.

The Diplomats – Dipset Anthem

“Makes me wanna throw out all my clothes that aren’t black.  The moaning vocal sample is haunting and the relentless kick drum feels like a timberland boot to the face – they work perfectly together. It should be illegal to play this at low volume”.
