Ellie Goulding has developed an edgier, poppy-to-R&B-gone-rock sound since her early, country-esque girly days, a trajectory easily seen in her latest collaboration with BURNS. After hearing a cover of Midnight Star’s “Midas Touch” by Boards of Canada, Goulding decided to cover her own version of the cover, asking BURNS to collaborate for a hypnotic rock-meets-electro R&B sound. The Ellie Goulding x BURNS version of “Midas Touch” will appear on her new album, “Halcyon Days,” out this Monday.
