Since releasing their debut EP in 2013, House outfit Billon – Ed Butler and Robbie Lamond – have gained critical acclaim for their future anthems.

Having remixed chart hits from the likes of Route 94, Kiesza and Katy B, the duo are extending their selflessness by guiding us through a playlist of their top ten favourite tracks.

In return, we’re showcasing the video for their track ‘Special’. Shot in LA, it’s a dizzy ode to infatuation that perfectly mirrors a track that infused the summer months. It’ll clear the rain from your brain, if not the skies.

Burial & Four Tet – Moth

“A perfectly balanced track from two modern greats. There’s not too much or too little in this track. The groove and the mood it sets is perfect for the rain.”

J Dilla – Runnin’ (Instrumental)

“One of my favourite beats from this legend. The way he uses the Stan Getz sample prevents you from keeping your head still.”

Weather Report – Teen Town

“The bass line from one of the greatest players of all time, Jaco Pastorius, is one of the many reasons I go back to this track again and again.”

MJ Cole – Strung Out

“MJ is a master when it comes to telling a story with music, this is one of my all time favourites from him.”

Billy Cobham – Stratus

“Some people who haven’t heard this before might recognise the bassline from Massive Attack’s ‘Safe From Harm’. The guitar, bass and drums on this are insanely good.”

Liquid People – Son of Dragon

“One of my favourite house tracks of all time. It always creates a great atmosphere wherever it’s played – at home, festival, club or on headphones. Absolute classic.”

Bob James – Dream Journey

“Bob James creates images and scenes with his music, the arrangement of this is on another level.”

Joey Beltram – The Next

“One of my favourite Beltram tracks. I could bang on for ages about how great this is sonically. Restrained, minimal, quality.”

Radiohead – Feral

“Crazy grooves and polyrhythms from one of the most versatile bands of the modern era.”

Ten Walls – Gotham

“I don’t know whether Ten Walls name the tracks before the music is made or vice versa, but the tracks always do what they say on the tin. I always find myself getting lost when listening to this modern classic on headphones.”
