Dior are putting an exciting new spin on their most famous frames.

Even if you didn’t know the name, you will definitely recognize the design: DiorSoReal sunglasses have become an iconic piece since their release a few years ago. Their architectural lines and semi-mirrored fronts have found a firm following among the fashion crowd, with Olivia Palmero and even Rhianna seen frequently wearing the classic-but-directional shades.

Well, now Dior are getting personal with a newly launched customization service available exclusively in the brand’s e-boutique. The MyDiorSoReal service will allow for almost endless tinkering with its vast range of options for lenses, arms, and even nose-pads. So, if you’re keen to make an already fairly unique looking pair of sunglasses (especially amid the sea of Wayfarers) that bit more individual, this might well be the thing for you. Check out the fun video to see just some of the many designs you could cook up, and then head over to e-Dior to get involved yourself.

The Canadian pop-seductress behind deep-house infused chart topping anthem ‘Hideaway’, talks singing, sailing and songwriting

Kiesza SInger

Hailing from Canada Kiesa Rae Ellestad, aka Kiesza, is taking the UK chart scene by storm. If you haven’t heard of her, you will most certainly of heard her deep-house-meets-pop infused anthem – ‘Hideaway’, playing in a club, dance class, rave or car near you. It’s inescapable in fact, but Kiesza who has previously written for Icona Pop, Rhianna and Kylie was shocked by the response herself. “It took me completely by surprise,” she says. “I definitely did not expect it to blow up as fast as it did.” Blow up is one term for it.

Her sound is distinctive, often harking back to the all too familiar sounds of the ’90s and having grown up listening to each and every one of the Jacksons, this comes as no surprise. Whilst she’s topping the charts, she’s also selling out gigs left, right and centre; but we were lucky enough to catch her live at London’s XOYO last night. Decked out in one of her signature crop-top’s with a pair of black sequin adorned track-pants, with her two accompanying male dancers she made sure there wasn’t a single person on the floor who’s feet weren’t tapping. It’s safe to say she’s a born performer. We caught up with the songstress to find out more.

When did you first discover you could sing?

When I was born I scored 10 out of 10 on my cry test. My mother told me I sounded like a fire truck siren.

What did you grow up listening to?

Michael Jackson, Jackson 5, Janet Jackson – all the possible Jacksons.

I read you were a multi-talented child when it came to extracurricular activities can you explain?

I started ballet at a really young age, I used to rock-climb, I sailed. I was raised to work really hard at everything I do and to finish what I start.

What made you choose singing over sailing?

I was able to connect with people through music and I felt like I could contribute something to other people through my music.

How did it feel when Hideaway topped the charts? Were you expecting that?

It took me completely by surprise, I definitely did not expect it to blow up as fast as it did. But I feel very grateful for the response it has received.

It’s very ’90s is that something close to your heart?

Yes I love the 90’s!! Always have, always will. It’s one of my favorite eras of music.

The video is amazing, have you always wanted to perform as well as sing?

I love performing and have always been passionate about it. The stage was the first place I felt like I could express myself as a kid. Otherwise I was very shy as a child.

You’ve written for Kylie, Icona Pop and Rihanna, who else have you written for and do you prefer songwriting or performing?

I can’t really compare the two. They are two things I am passionate about. One without the other feels incomplete. I continue to write for, and with, really cool people.

How would you describe your sense of style?

My style is influenced by the music I listen to, a hybrid of old and new, street and high fashion. I like to combine things that don’t normally belong together.

What else does the rest of 2014 hold for you?

I am working on an album for the Fall and I will be touring throughout the summer in Europe! I am also launching my own fashion line SteamPop closer to the New Year!

From the cute to the downright outrageous, a little look at things that made us LOL during NYFW…

Rhianna’s new hairstyle is causing great controversy here. As far as we were aware the mullet is representable of cringe-worthy 1980’s moments we’d rather forget, so what makes it fashionable now? Perhaps RiRi is just incredibly fashion forward… Her Instagram has kept us satisfied during #Phasionweek with gorge photos from the Alexander Wang after-party on Saturday night, where she rocked a unique grunge-inspired dress. What outrageous style will this sexy star possibly indulge us with next?

All eyes on Harper

Following in her mum’s footsteps, it was always going to be inevitable that Harper Beckham would steal the show. The two year old fashionista sat intently on the front row during the Victoria Beckham SS’14 show in her darling Chloé dress. Harper is winning our hearts and with the capability of cracking Anna Wintour’s stern visage she goes down in our top NYFW memorable moments…too cute!

HBA go cray-cray on the runway

HBA

Hood By Air has defined itself as the new stand-out street style brand with the striking Boychild epitomising androgynous beauty. With artistic drag performances and gender boundaries blurred, anything goes with this innovative fashion label. The models looked ghetto fabulous and the overly bronzed faces..well we didn’t quite know what to make of those, controversial I guess could be the term, particularly on the model with albinism. Regardless, we are loving that HBA is shaking up the runway.

Slick sisters
slick rick
Stylists are making a punk statement this Spring/Summer with super slick and styled hair ruling the runway. Theysken’s theory, Hood By Air, Rag and Bone and Prabal Garung were just some of the designers that showcased this questionable trend. The greased down locks were a key look on the runway intended to give the appearance of effortless beach chic, but came across slightly more scary Mary. We’re still weary as to whether this simple look is going to catch on, but for those who haven’t got time to shampoo, at least you can defend your look is on trend.

ATL Twins

atl twins

Justin Bieber chillin’ with the ATL twins…say what??! You can almost see the beads of sweat running down Bieber’s face, his arms poised in defence. The trio attended the Opening Ceremony on Sunday. Forget the hype with 1D, with those angelic matching outfits I see the potential for a new major boyband. #watchthisspace

#DKNY25 Birthday Bash In NYC

DKNY hosted their 25th Birthday celebrations in style. Did you guys see the big yellow TAXI CAKE?! Even the models were getting a slice of the action. Campaign Face Rita Ora sassed-up the run way giving us life and if you thought that wasn’t enough Monday night saw her and do an energetic performance emblazoned in Donna Karen logos head to toe. Amaze Fashion Week moment.

Thom  Brown: Insane fashion

1

Picture this: The Cure’s Robert Smith and the Joker’s love-child. White/Grey bird nest hair, smeared red lipstick and a crazed expression. Thom Browne has a pretty dark and vivid imagination, and this seasons NYFW show was no exception. The combination of overt Victoriana femininity with stark exaggerated tailoring is the talk of the town. We are personally loving the extremity of this look.
