It’s a New Year, and time for the long-awaited unveiling of which model babe has made it as the new face of Topshop’s global Spring Summer 2016 campaign. Topshop are known for picking inspirational women of the moment, and Karlie Kloss is no different. A role model and inspiration for women all over the world, Kloss is known for promoting women in tech – pushing them to both code and utilise social media for the greater good. Basically she’s what they called at school a classic ‘all rounder’. Who better to front the Topshop campaign?

The campaign was shot by super-acclaimed photographer of the moment Tyrone Lebon and styled by Topshop Creative Director, Kate Phelan, in New York. Phelan says: “It is thrilling to have Karlie back, eight years after her first modelling job and first Topshop campaign alongside Jourdan Dunn. She is the ultimate Topshop girl and modern super – a world-renowned fashion figure, businesswoman, entrepreneur and philanthropist who will resonate with our global customers through her many talents, ambitions and passions.”

Each year, thousands of girls (and boys) wait in anticipation around the globe ready to lock their eyes on the impossibly toned women that strut down the runway for the Victoria’s Secret show. Being an angel is a privilege and an honour (dontcha know?) and nowadays it’s more about the girls themselves that grace our screens than the skimpy outfits they’re wearing. Never free from controversy, this year the show has already caused plenty of pre-show drama with the crowning of Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid as Angels meaning VS veteran Jourdan Dunn was ousted (ouch) and RiRi, in a glorious show of support, pulled out of the show. Seriously, you couldn’t make this kind of controversy up!

Because at Wonderland we – like all of you – are just so obsessed, we’ve compiled our best and most shocking VS show moments, all in appreciation of tonights show. Get ready, we’ve really outdone ourselves this time.

Justin Bieber 

Biebs performing the VS show will always be a highlight. The (then) tweenager was obviously in total heaven and – let’s be honest – everyone could see themselves in that poor hormone filled boy.

The Wings

Before J-B and candy canes, there was the birth of the first ever Victoria’s Secret wings. So incredibly modelled here by Tyra Banks, it feels like this surely has to go down as a slice of important fashion history.

When Adam Levine and Anne V walked down the runway hand in hand in 2011, it was totally a moment. Sadly, the pair broke up. R.I.P.

Justin Timberlake 

Victoria’s Secret models AND Justin Timberlake all in one room? That was surely too much sexy to handle.

Taylor Swift + Karlie Kloss = BFF

This was when we first began to get an inkling of HOW BLOODY GOOD it would be to be in Taylor Swift’s girl gang. The pair stormed the runway and looked completely (ridiculously even) gorgeous whilst doing it. Not that we’re jealous, or anything.

Because we’re a little bit mean, we really can’t get over this photo of Arianna (a firm Wonderland fave we might add) cowering away from those ginormous wings. We’d do the same, babe.

Can you tell us about how you got scouted?

I was scouted in Charing Cross, very early in the morning actually – it was a bit of a surprise. I was just on my way to work! I was very surprised as I hadn’t really considered it but I thought I’d give it a go and I’m so glad I did. It’s so tiring but I love it!

What have you been up to since you got scouted?

I did fashion week last February and fashion week a couple of weeks ago and it was so good! I did Ryan Lo… I did Marques Almeida…I did Vinti Andrews, Caitlin Price and JS Lee so I was really happy. Ryan Lo was probably my favourite, the clothes were so cool!

He’s great. What’s your favourite thing that you’ve worn on a shoot or in a show that you wish was yours?

The coolest thing…I don’t know if I would wear it normally but what I wore for Ryan Lo was so cool it was like pink and fluffy, I felt like a princess.

Pink and fluffy vibes to match your phone case – amazing. Who would be your dream photographer to work with? Or your dream designer to work for?

I had a casting for Burberry which was a bit of a tease because I didn’t get it but that would be pretty awesome. The show is amazing… the show is so beautiful, it’s so cool.

What do you do when you’re not modelling?

I’m currently at uni studying sociology at York. I have no idea what I’d be doing really if I wasn’t a model though… I’d be a bit clueless! The city of York is amazing though – it’s got the best cake shops I’ve ever seen in my whole life which is really nice. They actually have a delivery called cakeaway, they deliver cake to your door it’s amazing.

What’s been your favourite moment as a model so far?

Favourite moment…probably my first ever show, it was so exciting, I had never done it before and had no idea what to expect. It was so manic and there was just so much going on. That was pretty cool. There’s so much adrenaline! I love it, it’s so fun.

Which city would you love to live in?

Probably New York, I absolutely love New York it’s such a cool place it’s so buzzing and everyone is so friendly there – it’s got a really good energy.

New York sounds pretty amazing.

We could all go together.

Should’ve done the shoot in New York, sorry. Do you prefer shoots or shows?

I would probably say shows but I do also really enjoy shoots. There’s more adrenaline in shows because you’re hyped up and everything. Yeah probably more shows but both are good.

Who’s your favourite female model and who’s your favourite male model?

Favourite female model – probably Jourdan Dunn she’s so beautiful and she also has a child and she looks amazing. She’s killing it isn’t she? She’s pretty good at what she does. Male model – I don’t know can you say Justin Bieber? I love Justin Bieber it’s kind of weird how much… I went to his concert.

Is he good live?

I thought so!

What do you do with your time off?

Probably just watch TV in my bed…No that’s boring, I do ballet which I enjoy. I’ve done it since I was little – it’s fun! Good for the core…

What song always gets you dancing and what music do you like?

Anything by Beyonce… And Drake, I love Drake.

A promotional shot and a little bit of info was released today regarding the hotly awaited collab between the Swedish high street giants and Olivier Rousteing’s Balmain. The biggest news is  that Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Jourdan Dunn – all personal friends of Rousteing – will be starring in the campaign which is set in a futuristic-urban subway system and photographed by Mario Sorrenti. As you can see in the taster shot below, male models Yun Xiang and Dudley O’Shaughnessy finish off the line up alongside the three supermodels.

The collection will include womenswear, menswear and accessories and will hit stores (as well as online) on the 5th November.

Set to launch on July 5 at the Topshop Oxford Circus flagship store, the new My Flash Trash #GIRLPOWER #CHARMGANG collection of charm bracelets and bangles has been designed by a set of inspiring young ladies. From model Rosie Tapner and DJ chelsea Leyland, to i-D’s Tish Weinstock and Wonderland’s  Editor Danielle Emerson have curated their own pieces.

Each piece of arm candy comes with it’s own unique URL so you can view a personal inspirational message on your phone from the experts, on anything from creating a summer playlist to how to start a model agency. Prices range from £28 to £58 and each piece is as playful as you like. 24-year-old founder, Amber Atherton (yes, former Made in Chelsea star) expressed that the range is all about “girl power and aspiration.” Anything to do with Girl Power sits pretty well with us.
