The first teaser featuring Charli xcx for Benito Skinner AKA Benny Drama’s TV series Overcompensating just dropped, and one thing’s for certain, you’re not going to want to watch this with your parents

Toilet seats, fraternity parties, a whole lot of innuendos, and Brat artist Charli xcx: setting the tone for his tongue-in-cheek TV series Overcompensating, Benito Skinner – who’s written, produced, and starred in the TV series – is priming us for a chaos-filled adventure. Making his TV debut as the series’ protagonist, Benny, “a closeted former football player and Idaho homecoming king,” per the series’ official synopsis, Skinner has enlisted the cream of Hollywood’s crop to make the series even more enticing. Enter Kaia Gerber, Kyle Maclachlan, Adam DiMarco, Charli xcx, and Wonderland Spring 25 talent Wally Baram.

The semi-autobiographical series takes place in college, featuring a cast of angsty and insecure teenagers, who are experiencing an array of firsts together. Skinner’s Overcompensating aims to reflect the modern day experience of coming out as queer. Alongside this testosterone-injected tale, Summer’s favourite party girl – Charli xcx – is having her moment in the spotlight. Over the past year we’ve been peppered with the singer-songwriter’s soon-to-be ascent into the cinema world, as she is set to feature in Romain Gavras’ Sacrifice, Cathy Yan’s The Gallerist, and recently wrapped on filming an indie film with Pete Ohs, dubbed Erupcja (also known as Eruption in Polish). Whilst she’s wooed in her guest appearances at SNL, we’re practically itching to see the Grammy and BRIT-winner have a proper stab at acting, and come May 15, when Overcompensating premieres, we will.
