“Over the next five to 10 years I would like to move towards directing. But right now, while I don’t have anywhere in particular I’m trying to head, I’m excited about what’s going to be put in front of me, and making sure I’m ready for whatever that is.” Currently, Jordan Bolger’s ambiguous ‘that’ refers to a particular leading role as wildcard, Gregory Williams, in This Town – the gritty series directed by Peaky Blinders’ Steven Knight (Jordan being a Peaky Blinders alumni himself) – and a cameo in upcoming blockbuster, The Crow, alongside Bill Skarsgård (“I think he is a great actor and working with him was a great experience”.) These two very ambitious projects are about to make the 29-year-old’s chiselled, born-to-be-famous face very familiar. But despite his movie star mug, acting hasn’t always been on the cards.

“If you asked me when I was five-years-old what I wanted to be, I would have said a bouncer! I then wanted to be a dancer, and to perform and create. I think that probably came from watching so many artists and performances over the years when I was young, from Bob Marley and David Bowie to Michael Jackson. Acting, as an opportunity, came about more as a silver lining when I got injured dancing.” In an act of fate, this addictive affinity with all things music came in handy when tackling the storyline behind This Town, which celebrates the rise of Ska and two-tone music set to the backdrop of ‘80s Birmingham and its growing social tensions. So how does music continue to inspire him? “It does and always has. Right now, in terms of who is inspiring me musically, it is a friend of mine that I lost – who has passed away – only a few days ago now. He was an amazing artist, called Jevon. He was a very, very talented producer and artist, and was a big part of the elevation of British production over the last 10 years.”
