HONEY REVENGE

Pop-Rock duo, Honey Revenge, ends stellar 2023 with string of international shows following drops of vibrant new single, “Habitual” and debut album, “Retrovision”.

Creating a buzz out of Los Angeles, California, Honey Revenge, comprised of Devin Papadol (vocals) and Donovan Lloyd (guitar), has carved a niche for themselves. The duo have cultivated their own community through a litany of singles and live shows which has culiminated in a string of standout national shows and the launch of their vibrant, zany new album, “Retrovision”. “Habitual”, a standout single from the project, envelopes themes of self-deprecation with up-beat, chirpy guitar riffs.

“Habitual is a fun, dancy reflection of my own negative attitude. Sometimes it’s important to acknowledge how much your mindset can affect your mental health and overall quality of life. The song is a conversation with myself about how much I’ve missed out on by being pessimistic. From overthinking my relationships and overanalyzing situations to my current state of going with the punches.” reflects lead vocalist, Devin Papadol, about the track.

Working over the past year on their debut record, “Retrovision” sees the duo collaborate with Josh Strock (LiL Lotus, Thousand Below), Zach Jones (AS IT IS, Nova Twins) and Kris Crummett (Dance Gavin Dance, Issues) to form a glimmering set of pop-rock anthems. From tapping into pop-punk with the agitated “Sensitive” to the dynamic, spirited synths of “Murphy’s Law”, the project shows a true dynamism to the group.

“Retrovision is an album of duality” explains Papadol. “It touches on an internal struggle with control and relationships. I put a lot of myself into the people I care about and just as much as I get my energy and drive from them, they can also suck the life out of me. I experience emotions in extremes and did my best to convey and process those intense feelings through the writing of these songs. I pose the question ‘am I the victim or the problem?’ with songs like ‘Murphy’s Law’ where I dive into my experience with a string of bad luck, or ‘Habitual’ where I assess how much of that bad luck stems from my own negativity. The album displays the range within Honey Revenge. From our poppiest and most melodic songs to tracks like ‘Sensitive’ that showcase our Emo roots. All of these themes are captured through a rose-coloured lens… or a violet-coloured lens. The aesthetic of the record is draped in shades of purple and pink.”

Their inaugural headlining tour in 2023 achieved remarkable success, with most dates selling out or reaching full capacity. The excitement continued as they supported the iconic group, The Used, in the UK, followed by a triumphant return to the US, where they supported Meet Me At The Altar. Wrapping up a stellar 2023, the duo looks poised for an incredible 2024.
