Following the loss of his mother and a feeling of loneliness due to the pandemic, Soran converted his late mother’s home into a studio. Since then, he has been crafting his forthcoming debut album, Loneliness Confetti, a project that marks the artist’s decision to break away from a major label and serves as an homage to his mother’s life of creativity as a music enthusiast and journalist. Showcasing his artistic liberation and dedication to expanding his musical horizons, recent singles “Anna” and “Diamond” give us a taste into the diverse sonic landscape that we’ll get with the full album.
From grief to love to life, Soran puts his all into the project. Speaking on the poignant tribute, he shares, “Loneliness Confetti celebrates being alone and living with the beauty that we’re choosing not to see every day. It’s surrendering to what some call boredom and finding the playfulness and euphoria of every moment.”
Loneliness Confetti stands as a testament to Soran’s emotional depth and creative evolution. We had the honour of sitting down with the star to discuss his early love for songwriting, the creative process behind his work, and his biggest inspirations.

Hi Soran, hope you’re well! What’s a typical week like for you these days?
Lately, I’ve been focusing on my next album after Loneliness Confetti and on finishing a bunch of songs and production ideas for other artists. I will usually have people over at my house-turned-studio every day of the week.
When did you start writing music? Do you remember the first song you ever wrote?
I wrote my first song when I was around 15. I have a recording of it but I remember writing in different bits and pieces. By the time I had finished writing it, I had written many others.
How would you describe your sound?
My sound is Soran or Pop.
Do you have a typical songwriting process?
It always changes, I love never doing the same thing, that is in part why I learned how to play a lot of instruments: to keep it exciting and refreshing.
Congratulations on your forthcoming debut album! How did this project take form?
I produced and played it in my childhood home and current home. The project took form over several months and kind of made itself as I make music every day.
What do recent singles “Diamond” and “Anna” tell us about the wider project and the new era of your musicality?
I think it shows how unapologetic I am about loving pop and hooky songs, but also how much I care about them being made in an authentic way.
What were you listening to, watching, reading, consuming while working on this?
A lot of older music, music that mom listened to, (Prince, Police, Gorillaz, Hall and Oates, etc.), Anime movies, and shows.
Is there a track you’re most proud of?
I’m proud of “Some of Us” because writing was a spiritual moment and I really feel like that song changed my perspective on music and how I make it.
Who are your biggest inspirations in the industry or elsewhere?
My friends (they’re mostly artists and musicians). I am fortunate to say that my close friends really inspire me and push me to be better every day.
Can you tell us a highlight of 2023?
THE WHOLE YEAR!!! Learned something every day!
