In 2006, Scottish singer-songwriter Sandi Thom climbed the charts all over the UK with her debut single, “I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker.” Now, after an artistic hiatus, she returns with her new musical offering, “Silence,” the first from her upcoming EP “Warpaint.” “‘Silence’ is a song of hope in desperation… a song of searching for answers within turbulence,” she shares. “It captures a moment in my darkest times, within what seemed to be an endless ‘desert’ of despair… a time when pain seemed unbearable, and my senses were numbed.”

Captured within a haze of humming synths and layers of reverberant vocals, creating a haunting choir, the track lets us see through Sandi’s artistry as she pours her heart and soul into each melody, surrounding the listener in emotional deliveries. “Silence” is rich in harmonies and sparkling instrumentation, and lyrically drenched in heartfelt and extremely personal messages. “The song conveys the oscillation of emotions and questions, a way of making sense of my reality… my ‘silence’,” she continues. “The message is one of hope, that even in the darkest of times, there is always a light. I feel the song is more poignant now than ever, given the conflict and suffering being experienced by so many people right now.”
