Hey Jude, you’re going to want to see this. The casting for Sam Mendes’ four-piece biopic has just been confirmed, and it’s an anthem of Wonderland’s favourite heartthrobs.

“Each man has his own story, but together they are legendary” reads the logline for Sam Mendes’ much anticipated biopic: The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event. After months of speculation, as rumoured castings peppered us with anticipation, and we all reprised our admiration for the legendary bands’ epic discography, the Fab Four who will take on the mammoth roles of The Beatles band members has finally been announced.
Dubbed as the “first binge-able theatrical experience”, the biopic will be released as four separate films, each following the story of its own respective band member. Due to hit the big screens in April 2028, Paul Mescal is set to take on the role of Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn will put his spin on George Harrison, Babygirl’s Harris Dickinson will play John Lennon, alongside Wonderland’s Spring 2025 cover star Barry Keoghan – who’s swapped his Saltburn suits for a pair of drum sticks, as he’s been busy practicing to honour Ringo Starr’s drumming skills. Sam Mendes – the Oscar-winning filmmaker, best known for American Beauty, 1917, and Skyfall – broke the news on Monday night, at CinemaCon, an annual industry event for Hollywood, as the soon-to-be Fab Four came on stage to honour the occasion.
Documentaries tracing the legacy of The Beatles are certainly in no shortage amongst media, as well as 18 biopics existing in the aether of cinema, however, Mendes’ offering comes as the first official biopic to have the blessing of McCartney, Starr, and the families of Lennon and Harrison. Granting full life story and music rights for a scripted film, The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, is set to be a film series to remember, celebrating the decade-long career of the band, who, “redefined the culture and stayed with you for a lifetime,” Mendes said, calling them “the most significant band of all time”.
