Garage-Rap sensation KiLLOWEN has gone from strength to strength since releasing his debut project ‘Pub Therapy’. Last week he returned with 6-track EP “six missed calls” which arrives ahead of his seven-leg UK tour starting this Thursday. He shared a few tracks that inspired the project as well as records that are in his current rotation.

Listen to “six missed calls”…

KiLLOWEN’s On Repeat…

The Streets – “Has It Come To This”

To be honest, this song is just the cornerstone of my whole sound. It would be in any list like this for the rest of my life.

2Pac – “Do For Love”

All for the soul sample beat flips. Feels so good, so nostalgic and can always get really creative with them.

High Contrast – “If We Ever”

Textures are so good. The female vocal chops, energy, overall sound is just unmatched. Classic.

Michael Jackson – “You Rock My World”

As you can probably tell already, I’m just proper into the soul stuff. I love imagining it into UKG/Rap/Dance music.

Jungle – “Dominoes”

Musical Instruments mixed with dance music. So good when it’s done right. Tried to channel that a lot into this project.

Burial – “Etched Headplate”

Got some darker tunes/sonics in the project. Defo inspired by burial, it’s so unique but still so London at the same time.

Frankie Stew & Harvey Gunn – “Good Will Hunting”

What can I say. Immaculate vibes, great lyrics on a beat you could just listen to on loop for hours.

The Cranberries – “Linger”

Sonically this tune makes no sense in this list but what a song. I listened to this a lot while writing the project and played a subliminal part in the writing.

MJ Cole – “Sincere”

The vocal chops, the drums, the feeling. So so so good. If I ever make a song this good I’ll retire.

Mura Masa, A$AP Rocky – “Love$ick”

A lot of this list is just about feeling. Certain things in all of these tunes just take me to a place I can relate to, and I tried to channel that into the EP.

Kano, Leo the Lion – “Nite Nite”

Hook is insane. Storytelling is so good. And the beat is so nostalgic. Defo channeling some of this.

Overmono –  “Good Lies”

Overmono are one of the greats in terms of new school garage in my opinion. The synths, drums and overall feeling are just so infectious.
