LANE MOORE + IT WAS ROMANCE have just released their new EP, “Final Girl,” marking their return following their 2015 self-titled debut album. That debut established Moore—an award-winning writer, actor, comedian, and musician—alongside powerhouse drummer Angel Lozada, dynamic bassist Ryan Ross, and lead guitarist Lisa Bianco. Together, they created a richly textured soundscape, blending searing garage rock guitars, experimental percussion, lush synth-pop flourishes, and Moore’s signature raw, deeply personal lyricism.
Co-produced by Grammy Award-winning Bryan Russell (Coldplay, Paul Simon, The Narrative), the new EP launches with the lead single, “Playing Records,” a strikingly evocative track brimming with layered instrumental arrangements, hypnotic melodies, and Moore’s magnetic vocal delivery. Overflowing with emotion and sonic depth, the song showcases her expansive vocal range and lyrical vulnerability, setting the tone for an EP that is both fearless and profoundly intimate. Reflecting on the single, Moore shares, “It’s absolutely possible to realize everything around you is painful, except this one small thing. And to decide you’re going to go directly in the direction of that joy, even if it blows up in your face, because for right now it just feels so good to feel something remotely hopeful.”
The EP has already garnered significant praise from fellow artists. Singer-songwriter Ted Leo reflects, “Everyone knows Lane’s wit, but what always makes it land so well is the sincerity that undergirds it.
