Gearing up to support Beabadoobee on the North American leg of her tour seems like as good a time as any to release your latest EP. Keni Titus, the rising LA-based alt-pop swooner, has done just that with the five-pronged “juliet”, and it’s quite the showcase of her creative faculty. Anthemic hooks and broad, emotive production aplenty, it’s a striking and charming body of work that never outstays its welcome, subtly sprawling and gorgeously provoking.
To mark the release of the EP, we had Keni take us through the tracklist, visually and literally…
Listen to “juliet”…
Check out Keni’s thoughts…
“juliet”
I remember feeling like I was a bird in a cage and I wanted to get out and fly. Maybe eat a worm. “juliet” is sort of the thesis of the entire project which is why it’s the title track.
“Here’s me eating in n out while we were making this song lol”

“think i got a bad idea”
This song feels like sneaking out of your parents house. It’s basically a middle finger. Tastes like freedom mmmm.
“I got a lot of inspiration from this wall for some reason. I think I was looking at it a few days before I wrote this song”

“take it off”
This is my favorite song lyrically. It feels like being kissed proper. I met a boy who made me say “I’m in trouble”. That is a feeling i hold onto.
“This was me and my best friend working out cover art ideas”

“feels like i’m changing”
Mentally I felt like I was drifting from my relationship. it happened so fast. My whole body just got cold and I wrote this song about it. It used to make me sad but the cold went away so now it doesn’t.
“This is what the song feels like. Spilling out of the can. Losing form. Being sad”

“something to believe”
I’m in love. I’m happy. This is the truest love song I’ve ever written I think.
“This is what love feels like to me right now. Blooming, deep red, growing. I love it”
