With ‘African Royalty’ both a tour and an album, can you describe how the themes of the album are reflected in your live performances?

‘African Royalty’ celebrates African heritage, showcasing our identity and the richness of our culture. In my live performances, this comes to life through rich sounds, dynamic choreography, costumes, and vibrant visuals. The goal is to connect the audience to the vibe and essence of African royalty, with each show designed to fully immerse them in that experience.

‘African Royalty’ has been a success with over 200 million global streams. What does this album represent in your journey as an artist?

The album is a huge milestone in my journey as an artist. It’s not just a celebration of my roots. It’s also a reflection of how much I’ve evolved , both personally and musically. The fact that it’s hit over 200 million global streams shows that people really connect with my sound and our stories. It’s a big motivation for me to keep making music that honors
where I come from while connecting with a global audience.

The album title ‘African Royalty’ conveys a powerful message. Can you elaborate on what aspects of African culture and identity you aimed to highlight in this album?

‘African Royalty’ is all about celebrating our identity, our strength, resilience, and beauty. I wanted to highlight some of our rich traditions, wealth, the beauty of our women, the pride in our heritage, as well as the grit and vibrant spirit that defines us. It’s my way of saying there’s royalty in every African regardless of blood ties, affiliations or class, and I wanted that to be felt in every track.

You have mixed various musical styles with highlife in your latest album. What challenges and rewards do you find in blending different genres?

One of the biggest challenges for me is finding the right balance for each style to complement the other without losing its appeal. Making sure nothing sounds forced. It takes a lot of time and experimentation. But the reward is always worth it when it all comes together. The fact that I get to stay creative and learn something new every time is more than enough.

With hits like ‘Big Baller’ and ‘Her Excellency’ topping charts, what was your creative process for these tracks and what inspired their themes?

For ‘Big Baller’ and ‘Her Excellency,’ the creative process was all about capturing a vibe that feels both powerful and authentic. With ‘Big Baller,’ I wanted to create something that people can vibe to when they are feeling on top of the world or they want to feel on top of the world – something that exudes confidence and success. An anthem for big spenders, top shots, and lovers of the good life. The beat had to be bold, and I had to come up with lyrics to match that energy.

Her Excellency (Nwunye Odogwu) is one for regal women and women who are well taken care of. I wanted to create a track that uplifts and honors women, recognizing beauty and excellence. The melodies and rhythms were carefully crafted to convey that sense of elegance and empowerment.
For both tracks, the process involved a lot of experimentation with sounds and lyrics to make sure they captured the right mood and message.

Returning to the UK and performing at OVO Arena Wembley, how do you prepare for such a significant show, and what can your fans expect from this performance?

I always bring my A-game, and it won’t be any different this time. In fact, this is going to be one of my best yet. We’ve spent a lot of time conceptualizing, rehearsing, and perfecting every detail.

Fans can expect a phenomenal show. I’m bringing the full experience—live band, dynamic visuals, electrifying performances and surprises that will make the night one to remember.
I’ve been saying it from the start that it’s set to be an experience of a lifetime, and I mean that.

Throughout your career, you’ve transitioned through various phases of musical evolution. How do you keep your sound fresh while staying true to your highlife roots?

I keep an open mind while I constantly explore new sounds and genres to see what resonates with me. Sometimes, it’s about blending the old with the new, incorporating elements to create something fresh.

But no matter where I take the music, I make sure to stay connected to my roots, and the elements that define me as an artist. It’s what keeps my music authentic, even as I explore new directions
The key for me is always remembering who I am, and the reason I do what I do in the first place — not to sound like anyone else, but to be the best version of myself at all times

Beyond music, your philanthropic efforts have made significant impacts. How do you balance your music career with your commitment to giving back to the community?

It’s all about prioritizing. Music is my passion, and giving back to the community is equally important to me. I find ways to integrate both priorities into my schedule. Understanding a vision and planning ahead always helps, and having a strong team that helps manage both aspects makes all the difference.
