Earlier this summer, Dior set the internet in hysterics by announcing Rihanna as the new face of one of the Maison’s most iconic fragrances of all time: Dior J’Adore. A heritage brand, one of the biggest celebrities of our generation, and their hero product—a formula with no room for failure. But this time around, the French house is going above and beyond. It’s not just any sparkly marketing campaign—it’s an encounter of powerhouses that feels almost meant to be.

“I have always loved this perfume,” the star begins. “My mother worked in a perfume shop and she used to bring home the testers when they were almost empty. There was always a bottle of J’adore in the house.” Rihanna is undoubtedly one of those iconic figures who turn everything she touches into gold—quite literally, in the new J’Adore film, directed by longtime collaborator Steven Klein.

The collaboration between Rihanna and J’Adore was released this past Sunday. But a couple of weeks ago, Wonderland got the chance to get a first look at this groundbreaking moment—it’s the first time in over 20 years that the French couturier has announced a new face for the iconic fragrance, shoes well fitted by previous ambassador Charlize Theron until now.

Truth be told, the combo of RiRi and J’Adore is one of such synergy that, at times, it had us thinking—wait, but haven’t they collaborated before? That’s until play was pressed, of course, and the Mandela effect soon dissolved. Crashing the gates of the Palace of Versailles, Rihanna embodies a J’Adore goddess for this film. A modern queen, some might say—looking picture-perfect, regal, and potent, dressed head to toe in gold couture, all designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, of course. She’s fierce, dazzling, as unstoppable as ever. And the feeling is that, if we could smell her scent through the screen, she would smell just as stunning as she looks.

“I feel that perfume has so much power! It can give you self-confidence, awaken memories, and transport you to a different place,” the star continues. “J’adore makes women feel that they can become who they really want to be, deep down inside. It’s magical!” We couldn’t agree more, Riri. Its latest edition, J’Adore L’Or, is a more modern iteration of the classic scent—just what Rihanna represents for the Maison’s new chapter. It’s a pungent, infectious floral, carrying a bouquet of fresh white flowers from Christian Dior’s gardens to our necks, with a fresh twist. We dare you to name a better match.
