Making their way towards the pinnacle of New York’s thriving indie scene, hotly-tipped four-piece The Backfires, have brought together a fiery, nostalgic but new-wave approach that is making itself heard within the contemporary space.

Sharing their first new music of the year, the band unveil the excellent offering “Brighter Lights”. Tinged with disco tendencies and grounded in a dance-laden indie sound, the new cut showcases the energy and effervescence of the band, a sentiment mirrored in the raucous narrative-led visuals based around an exciting and entertaining heist.

Speaking on the single, the band offers, “We wanted to make a song that sounds like New York” the band explain. “Then we got to recording and made the beginning of the track feel like you were entering a club. The song nods to the dance and club music of New York that we’ve gotten to experience in the past couple of years of living here.”
