If you’ve ever listened to Len’s self-assured lyrics and charismatic, freestyle flow on standout tracks like “BEBE” and “IJUST”, then it comes with no surprise that provocation lies at the heart of his artistry. Or, as the South-London Rap riser cheekily brands it: “Sexiness!”
In life, we all aim to move forward – stagnancy is the thief of progression, after all. For three-time Grammy-nominated Rap dignitary Rapsody, that means leaping towards growth whilst celebrating the past. “I’ve gotten the respect for what I do,” she reflects. “Now it’s about being a whole person. Showing up and letting people see me in my rawest state without having to check any boxes, or prove anything to anybody. This is my freedom era, and I’m the most free that I can be.”
It’s no exaggeration to file Rapsody amongst the most respected rappers in the States. Since her 2010 inauguration she’s amassed one of modern Hip- Hop’s most impressive discography of mixtapes and albums, augmenting her sound with each passing release. She’s collaborated with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller and Anderson .Paak, and now sits as an inspiration for artists attempting to make their way in the industry today, especially Black women MCs. “I’m proud of the catalogue that I have. You can see me finding myself more and more, and can see the growth in my skill as an individual and an artist. I’m proud of having that footprint as a guide and example to other artists that we all start somewhere.”
