As we welcomed in June and the beginning of summer, Primavera opened its gates for another year of sublime music and cascading memories to make. Wonderland headed over to sunny Barcelona to take in the world-renowned festival, and its reputation certainly doesn’t proceed itself. The pure diversity of the line up is impressive, but there were some pre-fest questions about how well the styles could integrate together. That’s not an issue in reality though; a hot and heavy Arca DJ set can be followed up by an hour of crying in the rain with American Football – no problem.

Lana Del Ray dazzled, Balming Tiger flaunted their fire-cracker potential, Freddie Gibbs & Madlib strolled through their classic record Piñata, but SZA arguably stole the show, with a show-stopping production of back-to-back bangers that had depth, emotionality and euphoria in abundance.

Aside from the music and the chance to sight-see the Spanish gem of a city, one aspect of the festival that stood out for us was the fashion choices – and the people sporting them. With a plethora of iconic fits on show, we thought it was simply too good an opportunity not to celebrate the visionary looks and have a quick chat with the lovely humans wearing them.

Why are you wearing?
I was given a tour around Barcelona, and when I saw the dress I thought that it is exactly what I want to wear this year for the festival. I wanted something matching with the hat and it felt like destiny when I saw it.

Who are you excited about at Primavera?
Disclosure.

What are you wearing?
It’s called working from home. The idea is at the top it’s very classic, very professional for a video call. At the bottom, I have nothing. It’s the fit that I wear all the time.

Why are you wearing it?
Because this is my life everyday! I’ve been working from home since the pandemic.

Who are you excited about at Primavera?
Lana Del Ray, Jai Paul, many others.

What are you wearing?
I’m wearing a full on worm outfit that transforms into a butterfly, and a Palestine flag because we’ve got to represent.

Why are you wearing it?
I just found it in a kids store. It’s like a size for a 5 year old so I had to cut it make it fit. Then I just built the outfit from it. I wanted to become a butterfly!

Who are you excited about at Primavera?
Jai Paul, Barry Can’t Swim.

Why are you wearing it?
I live in Berlin and I’m a very creative person. I’m very open with outfits and showing who I am. I don’t mind if it’s for girls or for men. Even though I have a masculine body I just like to play around with my outfits and be comfortable.

Who are you excited about at Primavera?
Lana Del Ray of course.

Why are you wearing it?
I was heavily inspired because Lana Del Ray is playing today. It’s very Lust For Life, on the album cover she has daisies in her hair.

Who are you excited about at Primavera?
Lana, Troye Sivan, Deftones, SZA, CHARLI XCX.

Why are you wearing it?
Lana is playing so I want something that I can frolic in, that blows in the wind. But I don’t wear white so I thought I’ll have to wear black. I feel like [Lana] would love this.

Who are you excited about at Primavera?
The National, BADBADNOTGOOD, SZA.

What are you wearing?
Lots of pink and lots of blue.

Why are you wearing it?
I do love a y2k vibe and I love to do some DIY – this is all down myself – and some cropping on the outfit. The chains and necklaces are by me. I just wanted to go for something summery so these colours.

Who are you excited about at Primavera?
Lana Del Ray but I’ll be an emotional mess the whole time.

Why are you wearing it?
I love a neutral outfit. Love looking Mad Max-y. I like industrial, like screws and bolts and metal and how it works with the sandy colour.
