ROSIE LOWE – “MOOD TO MAKE LOVE”

The Singer, songwriter and producer returns with dazzling delicacy on this new cut, backed by a vivid visual accompaniment.

There’s no doubting Rosie Lowe’s credentials; she knows how to swoon, to surprise and to stun. For a decade the singer, songwriter and producer has blessed the UK alternative market with the meatiest of music, full of cross-genre genius and deep emotional resonance. Since “Now, You Know”, her hazy, textured and terrific 2021 EP, we’ve not heard any solo material from Lowe. Until now, that is.

“Mood To Make Love” is so delicate it feels like it could snap at any point. The self-produced instrumental revolves around a simplistic, hypnotic guitar pattern and a gentle almost bee-like buzzing, a constant hum that the song is structured atop of. Lowe’s vocals are tender and melancholic, with an almost unassuming air to them, like she’s been caught off guard by the subtle incandescence of the sonics. Genre-less and gorgeously gothic, it’s a truly dazzling return for the Devon-born, Deptford-based artist.

The cut is augmented by a set of stellar visuals directed by the polymath’s brother Louis Hemming-Lowe, which Wonderland premieres below. On the video, Rosie comments, “I knew I wanted to keep the team small and work with people I know, trust and love so I decided to collaborate with my big brother, a director, on the music videos. We wanted the visuals to feel much like a dream sequence. We shot it on a very cold January morning on a small rowing boat on a river in Devon, and somehow lucked out with the 1 x sunny day we got in January!”‘
