Embracing social platforms like YouTube, Instagram and TikTok to gather a healthy connection with her fanbase, Taylor Felt’s star has grown from strength-to-strength. Through gathering a following of over 2.8 million followers on TikTok using an impressive social media presence, Taylor picked up a coveted role as an official TikTok ambassador in 2020. And using a unique blend of pop crossed up with punk and R&B influences, Taylor’s sound offers a dynamic sonic experience that eclipses conventional genre constructs. Now, with her authentic and genuine self on full display, Taylor Felt gears up for her highly anticipated EP with an astounding new single, “I wish u would cheat”.

Set against a minimal backdrop of raw piano keys, Taylor’s vibrant vocal palette shines as she expresses vulnerability through her candid lyricism. “I wish u would cheat” explores the complex emotions of a relationship on the brink of its end, capturing the internal conflict of wanting to avoid hurting someone you care about while knowing the relationship’s end is looming. Lines like “Cos I know if I’d leave, I’d probably break your heart, but if you would cheat, you couldn’t hold it against me” encapsulate the core sentiment of the track and the effervescent wordplay that has become synonymous with Felt’s artistry.

Speaking on the process of making the track, Taylor explains, “’i wish u would cheat’ is the 3rd single from my upcoming project ‘Dead Flowers’. This song started as a journal entry from my diary, where I was honestly writing about this feeling about being trapped in an unhealthy relationship. This feeling was so suffocating, so I responded the way I know best, through art and the studio. With help of Sebastian Kole (songwriter for incredible artists including Alessia Cara, Coco Jones, John Legend, Alicia Keys) and my extended team, we created the most viscerally honest song I’ve ever made. I was seeking a song like this to listen to when I was going through the conflicted feeling of wanting to break up but needing a justifiable reason to do so.”
