LYRA – “LYRA”

The Cork-born artist unveils a 14-track debut, self-titled album, brimming with heartfelt vocals and introspection.

Lyra’s debut album, crafted between Los Angeles and London, traverses a rich spectrum of sounds. From the moody allure of “Chess” to the celestial charm of the radio hit “Falling”, and culminating in the pulsating energy of “Edge of Seventeen”, her sonic journey everything we come to expect of LYRA, dynamic, immersive and perfectly emblematic of her signature sound and journey to-date. With commanding vocals and lush arrangements, Lyra firmly establishes herself as a rising star to watch.

“When I began writing music, I aimed for a specific style,” she explains. “But as I started developing, I wanted to write a ballad when I was heartbroken, or an irreverent song when I had a one-night stand, or an upbeat song about going on the lash with my friends and dancing until three am. To me, music should be fun and evoke different emotions, and you’re not going to do that through one sound.”

At the core of these melodies lies Lyra’s versatile vocal range, effortlessly oscillating between lightness and depth, fragility, and strength. This emotional depth is further amplified by her raw and vulnerable lyricism, offering poignant glimpses into past relationships. “The first ballad I ever wrote was ‘Someone New’, and it took me a lot of heartbreak and learning to get there,” she says. “But the album also documents when I embraced my single life and went a bit carefree and wild. People will understand much more about me, because all the songs are about my life. Except for ‘Naked’. That’s my alter ego coming out.”
