ACID TONGUE – “ACID ON THE DANCEFLOOR”

The genre-bending American garage band drops vulnerable and rousing new album “Acid On The Dancefloor”.

Formed in a damp Seattle basement in 2015, and heavily influenced by classic soul, punk and psychedelic rock, the American band have refined their unique brand of rock and roll through extensively touring the US and Europe. The band also includes an extensive list of touring and studio musicians with a rotating global roster spanning Paris, New York, London, Mexico City and Los Angeles. At the core of Acid Tongue sits singer/songwriter Guy Keltner and drummer/vocalist Ian Cunningham and with “Acid On The Dancefloor”, we are taken on an introspective view through the looking glass at Guy’s childhood hometown of Los Angeles.

Taking a childish take on adulthood, Acid Tongue tackle the easily romanticised – yet often isolated – landscape and culture of the L.A. bubble. While composing the lyrics for the project, Keltner handled some significant losses in his life, facing serious issues with drugs, alcohol, romance, family, and friends. Using this album as a vehicle to communicate these trials and tribulations with unflinching honesty, Acid Tongue’s new album is brimming with Guy’s distinct vocals sitting against a backdrop of angsty guitar-riffs and relentless percussion. Tapping into the frenetic energy of punk crossed up with swirling psychedelia which adds layers of intensity and depth, “Acid On The Dancefloor” feels both familiar and innovative, evoking nostalgia whilst pushing the boundaries of contemporary music with its raw, unfiltered lyricism.
