“How would you like to come work for me at the resort?”

Pack your bags and book your flights, because we’re heading to the German Alps! The first trailer for Hunter Schafer’s horror film is officially here, and it’s even more chilling than we had imagined. Written and directed by Tilman Singer, Cuckoo follows Schafer’s 17-year-old Gretchen as she moves to the Alps to live with her father and his new family on a resort of horrors. Run by Herr König (Dan Stevens), the place starts to feel more like a house of horrors, and after Gretchen accepts a job, she begins to wonder why she was brought there in the first place.

On Schafer’s Instagram post of the trailer, Ayo Edebiri expressed excitement over the film: “I’m seated. The theatre employees are scared and asking me to leave because it’s ‘not August yet’ but I’m simply too seated.”

Singer premiered Cuckoo at Berlin Film Festival in February, and later at SXSW. For the rest of us, it is out on August 9.
