GRACE GUI

The NYC-based knitwear project unveils its next innovative step, launching a sustainably sourced line of bikinis.

Grace Wang, an emerging Chinese-American designer, introduced her label with a tailored and niche concept, embracing the ethos of “farm to table fashion.” The result, GRACE GUI, seamlessly combines Americana influences with Grace’s profound connection to her Chinese heritage and a renewed sense of self. Exclusively working with female independent farmers and artisans, each item is meticulously knit or felted by hand, ensuring its uniqueness.

Rising from one success to another with her innovative sustainable knitwear, Grace even secured a patent for her knitwear technology in 2023. Now, she has shifted her focus to bikinis. These bikinis are crafted from 100% mulberry silk and angora rabbit fur, incorporating elements like seaglass, jade, and wensleydale lamb. Each piece is expertly loomed in Los Angeles, with knit detailing originating from New York City.

Founder and designer of GRACE GUI, Grace Wang, speaks on her creative and sustainable process, explaining, “GRACE GUI is special in the way that we source and produce. I only source from small farmers, and only produce in the US. Right now, all of our bikinis are being hand-knitted by eight wonderful women in Texas.

I use cocoons that I have grown and raised over multiple generations in my pieces as floral embroideries. Additionally, I sourced wild silk cocoons from a wonderful woman in New York City.

And, at home, I have my prized son Boots. He is a 2 year old Angora rabbit that we shave periodically and use in our pieces as well.

On top of just sourcing embroidery locally, we also source all of our 100% silk yarns from a lovely woman in North Carolina who I met through one of the fibre festivals this year. Our signature is truly our dedication to neighbourly sourcing, circular production, and letting our materials shine.”
