After more than a decade of working on the projects of industry juggernauts – including the likes of Stormzy, Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber – and soundtracking the experiences of a generation, 2024 sees the pair begin to make their own storied era. Pulling from their experiences living between LA, London and Lagos in recent years, Sons of Sonix are embracing the evolution of their career, through travel, heritage and success, and their now-timeless sound. Now, the duo look to their forthcoming project “Timezones and Tylenol”. Ahead of its much-anticipated release, the duo blesses us with an infectious new Afro-R&B anthem, “Trust Yourself”, featuring the euphonic talents of LA singer/songwriter Shawn Butler.
An electrifying afrohouse track, “Trust Yourself” pulsates with vibrant, dynamic energy. From the moment the first beat drops, the rich production delivers an infectious groove mesmerising listeners with driving percussion, hypnotic basslines, and intricate polyrhythms whilst Butler’s delicate vocals croon and serenade.

Mikey, one half of Sons of Sonix, describes the track’s creative inception, explaining, “written during the global pandemic of 2020, the record is an acknowledgement that people have become co-dependent on others, even to the point of sacrificing their best self and self
beliefs.”
Accompanying the bumping new track is an enigmatic, personable music video which draws us into the lives of the duo and their creative process as we see them work together, bouncing off one another in-studio to create the tracks that have made them one of the most exciting production duos in the contemporary Afro House scene.
