SILK LAUNDRY

The Australian/Canadian brand drops deliberate and inspired new collection alongside their exuberant first foray into jewellery.

Silk Laundry debuts a deliberate and inspired new collection, marking their exciting entrance into the world of jewellery. Founded by Canadian-born Katie Kolodinski, Silk Laundry has forged a distinct path in fashion, integrating social change and environmental sustainability into their ethos while utilising impeccable craftsmanship and enduring designs. Collaborating with Australian artist Miranda Skoczek, the brand breathes exciting new life into its iconic silhouettes with fresh fabrics, colours, and dyes, accompanied by a 10-piece jewellery collection crafted by ceramicist Alfredo Benitez Valero.

The jewellery collection, with each piece adorned with unique symbols inspired by traditional wisdom and the creative vision of Katie Kolodinski and her team, serves as both captivating conversation starters and elegant minimalist adornments. “The part I like the most about the collection is its meaning, to think of personal protection pieces as small talismans, those that we usually wear well glued to our skin. Whether it is a piece of clothing, an accessory, or a piece of jewellery,” comments Alfredo.

Speaking on working with Miranda and Alfredo, Katie explains, “I believe there is so much value in collaborating with individuals who are genuine, have their own point of view, and are a force in their field. I am always interested in growing and becoming more knowledgeable, so it’s phenomenal when you can gain this from people you truly love and respect. I’ve known Miranda Skoczek, a celebrated Australian artist, for 11 years and she has become one of my greatest friends over time. Miranda is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to rituals, talismans, history, iconography, and symbolism. She’s a wealth of knowledge, and I love that we’ve been able to collaborate on this collection for our prints and colour stories. As for Alfredo, the ceramicist who we worked with for our jewellery and vases, he has become a friend since my relocation to Spain. We’ve broken bread, and my children were taught the art of ceramics by him in his studio. I want to collaborate with people who I love and respect at a deeper level. Miranda and Alfredo are both that.”

As Silk Laundry continues to evolve, these collaborations represent a fusion of artistic expression and timeless style, appealing to those who appreciate both innovation and enduring beauty.
