Wearing… MELLER Sunglasses

If you scroll through Instagram, you’re bound to see Barcelona-based cult sunglasses brand Meller on one or two faces. Their signature timeless yet eye-catching silhouettes truly set their lines apart from the masses, and lately I’ve been loving their eco-conscious range. Green in colour and green in production, Meller’s bio-based sunglasses are made with 45% naturally-based materials, lowering the label’s carbon emissions and reducing your own footprint.

Cycling… SoulCycle’s Taylor Swift Mondays

For seven years, I swore I hated cycling classes. The competitive front row, the complicated shoes and confusing set-up process, and the cult mentality of certain gyms scared me off at age 17, and I swore I’d never return. Until now.

Several months ago, I was scrolling through workout classes in London, searching for an alternative to my routine pilates sessions, when I found it: SoulCycle’s Taylor Swift Mondays class. Forgetting about my prior unsettling, I instantly booked myself in.

I’d been a massive Swiftie since almost a decade before my fear of cycling classes kicked in, and I knew there was no way I could dislike 45 minutes of any workout if I got to listen to her discography the whole time. But what I’ve found is so much greater than I ever imagined. Every week, the instructor, MJ, selects a theme — this week’s was The 1989 Tour Setlist which was a personal favourite — and curates the ride to provide not only a physical workout, but an emotional one as well. From start to finish, riders sing their hearts out, challenge and encourage one another, and thrive off of the common energy in the room. These Monday nights have redefined everything I thought I knew about cycling classes, and, for months now, have made me look forward to the most dreaded day of the week.

Stepping out in… the Dr. Martens 14XX Beta Pack

I’m not sure there’s any brand that does “new spins on a classic” quite like Dr. Martens. You probably clocked the Dr. Martens x A-COLD-WALL 1461 Bex making waves on GRWM Tik-Toks, and their Denim Tears collab is a captivating tribute to the Windrush generation, cleverly subverting the Union Jack with the vibrant colours of the Jamaican flag. But it’s one thing to collaborate with an external team; it’s another thing to dive deep into your own archive to elevate, disrupt and evolve classic silhouettes.

Known for their rebellious spirit, DM’s went bold in reimagining the 1460 boot, the 1461 shoe and the 2976 Chelsea boot. Retaining that iconic yellow stitching, these models don an experimental sole, whilst playing with the outer to deliver a new range that plays with proportions and defies expectations. I’ll be dressing these up with an overcoat in these rough winter months and wearing them in pub gardens come the summer. Gassed to see how they continue to play with these new iterations in 2024.
