Stylist and image creator Sophia Roe is no stranger to the excitement and chaos of fashion weeks. Attending her first shows back in 2017, the Copenhagen-based talent has seen her fair share of runways — but the magic never fades. From the looks themselves to the set design and atmosphere, it is the full theatrical experience of a Dior show that, in Roe’s eyes, truly sets them apart from the masses.

We caught up with Sophia Roe after the enchanting presentation…

Hey Sophia! How is Paris?
Colder than I remember, but nevertheless just as exciting!

When did you start attending fashion weeks and do you remember your first Dior show?
It must have been in 2017. It feels like ages ago and so much has happened since. I have been working with the house for as long as I can remember going to Paris – so it feels really special to be back for another fairytale.

What is the energy like surrounding the couture shows and how might they differ from other fashion weeks?
Couture truly has its own scene, contributing to the whole experience. Everything is a bit more extravagant and really shows how couture is for the few. The idea of dress making truly comes to life. Hand embroideries and carefully put together, are coutures. Essence of extravagance!

Can you tell us about your look for the Dior Haute Couture SS24 show?
Whenever we do the fitting for a show we end up looking at each other saying “wauw, that was easy” – but truly it always is. There’s nothing more suiting than a Dior Silhouette. Dressing for Dior always feels effortless. Today we chose a classic dress covered with black and white lace and a touch of Bois De Rose fine jewellery diamonds to match the season.

Did you have any expectations going into the show?
This season I got the incredible opportunity to see and interview Peter Philips backstage before the show. Of course Dior Makeup classics were discussed and who else to turn to for insider beauty secrets!

Is there a look that stands out to you from the runway?
Feathers are not atypical at couture but look 44 immediately brought my attention – It felt like unforced elegance. At Dior I always enjoy seeing “The New Look” reinterpreted into new storytelling looks yet always recognisable silhouettes, that today remains relevant and elevated in modern day. Truly breathtaking!

What makes a show memorable to you?
The history, the newness, the walls, the music, the guests, reinforced relevance, the light and the reinterpretations! It can really become theatrical. At Dior the walls always whisper. I love the moment of entering the show location and to see the decorated walls – the set design insinuates the theme of the collection.

What is your #1 fashion week essential?
Good friends and supportive companionship – and of course a good night’s sleep!
