Barbenheimer

Let’s be honest: the Barbenheimer obsession felt like a fever dream! On one side, Greta Gerwig’s exceptionally critically acclaimed take on the doll’s story, starring Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken; on the other, Cillian Murphy on Christopher Nolan’s biographical thriller Oppenheimer. Released on the same day, both movies were two of the biggest releases in the industry, amassing audience records around the globe—for cinemas and Halloween costumes.

Taylor’s Eras Tour

@taylorswift

What a year 2023 was for Swifties. After years away from the stage, Taylor Swift moved masses and crashed economies with her Eras Tour, her biggest one to date. Now, after wrapping up the South America leg of the tour, she’s ready to take some time off before the next leg in 2024. In the meantime, she served us with a film adaptation of the 3-hour-long concert.

Rihanna’s Baby Announcement at the Super Bowl

@badgalriri

@badgalriri

Rihanna made a comeback to the stage in 2023 in a big way during her Super Bowl halftime show performance. The show was her first in more than 5 years, but more than her head-to-toe bright red puffer outfit, what actually caught our attention was her baby bump showing off as she announced her second baby with A$AP Rocky. You’re irreplaceable, RiRi!

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Ski Accident Trial

@badgalriri

Celebrities go to court all the time, but Gwyneth Paltrow’s ski crash trial was definitely an iconic one. On the other side of the jury was Terry Sanderson, a 76-year-old retired optometrist, who sued Paltrow for her allegedly reckless skiing techniques that got him into an accident in 2016. But legal reasons aside, what actually got the internet talking was Paltrow’s outfit selection, as she channeled quiet luxury at its finest, with one viral tweet saying, “Gwyneth Paltrow looks like she’s on trial in 1987 for hiring a hitman to kill her husband.”

Prince Harry’s Memoir, “Spare”

@badgalriri

Not-so-Prince Harry lit the internet on fire earlier this year with the release of his memoir, “Spare.” Despite an intense series of allegations and the raw truth behind the royal family, what got people talking were some extremely graphic scenes where he spared no details to describe one of his trips to the North Pole (Yes, that one with Diana’s Elizabeth Arden cream)—and that were even funnier on the audiobook version as we listened to Harry read out loud all the juicy content.

Blue Ivy’s Moves for the Renaissance Tour

@beyonce

@beyonce

Like mother, like daughter! Blue Ivy stole the show during Beyoncé’s worldwide tour Renaissance throughout 2023 as she decided to step ahead in the concert and join mommy’s renowned ballet with an amazing dance presentation. From Paris to Stockholm and the US, Blue fascinated crowds and definitely set her first foot in an industry she’s destined to reign.

Britney’s Memoir, “The Woman in Me”

@beyonce

Britney Spears’ memoir was not only highly anticipated by her fans but also for a handful of A-list celebrities that were likely to be featured in her lifetime reflection masterpiece. The book is a powerhouse, where we see the most raw and human side of the pop star from her own gaze, amassing records and moving crowds eager to get their hands on it.

Kylie’s Lion Head for Schiaparelli

@kyliejenner

@kyliejenner

If anyone knows how to pull off an outfit, it’s gotta be Kylie Jenner. The youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan turned heads while walking into Schiaparelli’s Couture runway in Paris in January, wearing a black dress with… a lion’s head! Definitely an outfit for the books of the most iconic fits of the century.

Timothée Chalamet x Boygenius SNL Troye Sivan Sketch

@kyliejenner

SNL guaranteed many Saturday night laughs for us this year, but Timothée Chalamet’s sketch with the British band Boygenius, where we see them embodying Troye Sivan, got to be one of the best ones yet. For weeks, the internet was overflowing with clips and memes from the night—and even Troye himself couldn’t get over the presentation, changing his profile picture on IG to Timmy’s version of him. Definitely worth a watch.
